A great argument for Hearns and I tend to agree. Also I don't think Hopkins would react well to the weight cut and Hearns has the power and speed to capitalize on an off form Hopkins.

Hearns' jab, reach and speed would have certainly created some problems for Hopkins in the early rounds but The Excutioner had great Ring IQ and knew how to neutralize his opponents' best weapons, Winky Wright was a southpaw and had a great jab, Hopkins at 42 years old defeated him by neutralizing his jab. In my opinion Hearns starts the match well here but then Hopkins takes away the right distance with his obstructionist technique, lands the most precise shots and wins clearly on points.

Who did Barkley ever KO other Hearns, Darrin Van Horn, lol Hearns didn`t impress at 168.

And Mercardo dropped Hopkins and got a draw vs Hopkins and he is nowhere near a Hearns.

I disagree, even though he fought at the limit of 170 pounds (he had never fought above 160) Wright had a good match (he then fought almost the entire fight with a bad cut near the eye due to a headbutt from Hopkins) and in my opinion the score of Lederman and AP (respectively 114 - 114 and 115 - 113 Hopkins) describe better what was seen in the ring than the judges' cards, too wide in my opinion. It was a close match (and also boring) in which a narrow victory for Hopkins could have been expected in my opinion.

B-Hop improved vastly by the late 90`s and was better at 168.

And Barkley was getting absolutely dominated and on the verge of soon getting stopped when he landed that shot.

Hearns. Too much speed, power and accuracy at 160 or 68. He also could foul effectively, as well

The firs two rounds Hearns won but Barckley was landing lefts, in the third Hearns started hurting Barkley to the body but the fight wasn`t about to be stopped, Heans was wide open the whole fight and ate several counters, B-hop would have found him easy to counter.

He didn`t show much speed or power at 168, he certainly had power though because he finished Andries at 175, but that and Maynard were the only two stoppages Hearns had above 160, he looked awful v Kinchen.

Barkley was getting his butt handed to him so just stop. He almost got dropped by body shots at one point.
To his credit he took it all and didn't stop swinging and he found Hearns.
Hearns was not "wide open" the entire fight so stop with the nonsense Barkley was on the way to getting stopped.
BHop has never faced a jab like a Hearns and the only one a little similar was Taylor's and look what happened.

And he still lost to a Jones who essentially beat him with one hand because Hopkins was wary of the SPEED.
