Pre-Paret, Griffith would likely score a late TKO. A lesser form would win on points, or maybe even lose.
Emile Griffith was not a hard puncher despite killing Benny Paret. I got Hearns by 8th round TKO in this matchup.
Not just a matter of how hard Emile hit, but also of Hearns being a skeleton at 147. Given how he gased out against Leonard, unless Tommy caught him flush like Cuevas, I see Griff wearing him down.
I cant really see how people think Hearns is that vulnerable at the 147...He was stopped late once against the second best welter ever. Very, very few people beat Hearns at his best at this weight. I think Tommy wins a clear decision in this one. It would be highly competitive all the way and likely Emile does has his best moments late. But in the end Tommy has a little to much of everything here. 10-5 or 9-6 kind of verdict.
