I concur with these posts. Horrible matchup stylistically and against a better fighter. Floyd can't outbox Hearns and can't rough him up. On the inside would be his best location but it just wouldn't work. If he tried to just survive to the finall bell he'd still get stopped eventually. I see it looking like the Johnson KO of Roy Jones with a similar stance and aftermath.
ZI think as smart as Floyd is in the ring he would rather a fight inside one because of that powerful beautiful jab....but i think Floyd baits him into the middle of the ring and turns his shoulders to him with his philly shell tight...this naturally lures punchers in who are aggresive.....Floyd is very quick first punch he would duck very low and come up into Hearns chest...this is where Floyd is great and far better equipped to fight because his arms are shorter plus Floyd has great body work.....this is something Floyd does a lot....look at the Hatton fight to see the technique im saying....he used it a whole lot....hw would duck at Hattons first punch and then come up into his chest...with hearns being so tall and long his power is almost neutralized when you in-fight. Floyd would have to fight there to have a chance...i think is possible....Floyd mentally is second to none in that ring....i dont care how far you go back he thinks on the level of ATG's in that ring which is why i give him a shot against all of them...but its just that...a SHOT.....i know he doesnt win some of em if any but i do feel as smart as he is in that and how prepared he comes.....he can make it a very good fight with ATG's who so call murder him.
Nobody is a worse matchup for Floyd than Tommy at 147 IMO. Floyd would be dominated and stopped before the final bell. If he decides to fight ultra defensive, he'll lose 10 rounds.
Hearns by a clear decision. his reach, height, and power advantage would be too much for Floyd. He also had great handspeed and it would not surprise me if he even ko'ed Floyd.
hearns at welterweight looked unbeatable, if only he had a good chin he would have been the perfect fighter.
Tommy Hearns will get a massage in the dressing room to his arms, back, and legs. He will be unable to move, and Mayweather stops him in one.
