Maske outclasses Tommy, putting on an absolute masters class in the efficacy of Euro stand-up boxing, the way boxing was intended to be.
I'm going with the very awkward and well schooled Maske via decision. Hearns is the far superior fighter pound for pound but at 175, I think Maske is a bad matchup for an ageing Hearns. Of course Hearns has an outstanding win over Hill at 175 but stylistically, Maske is a nightmare.
Hill was able to keep Maske @ bay w/ lead rights for the 1st half of their fight. I'm sure Maske will just stroll through The Hitman's rights just fine though.
Maske announced his retirement before his bout with Hill, I always felt psychologically he was very flat for his bout with Hill because of that, not to take away from Hill but that was bad showing from Maske.
Tommy Hearns was never outboxed/outclassed in his entire career......................like literally his entire career. The only way to beat him was to outfight him, and there is no conceivable way Maske could do that, not even an older LHW version. Would not happen: Hearns UD12
I’m going with Hearns. Maske didn’t have much to hurt him with which lessens the dangers of Tommy not being a true light heavy. Hearns soundly beat a prime Hill and Andries as well.
If we're talking strictly about the version of Hearns who destroyed Andries at Light Heavyweight and out pointed Hill then I'm picking Hearns. Hearns was never outboxed in his career and Maske was outboxed in his prime by Hill. I actually think the opposite to you Hearns matches up very well with Maske. The way to beat Hearns is coming straight him aggressively and being brave enough to walkthrough his deadly right hand. That isn't Maske's style he was a good technician who was considered boring with below average power only 11 stoppages in 32 fights. Hearns by decision for me.
Agree. I can’t see Maske posing any danger to Hearns and nor do I see him as even having a comparable skill level. Prince Charles Williams might have beaten him had a he been two or three years younger
Maske is the 2nd coming of Ali, the 4th coming of Benny Leonard, & the 1st coming of Mayweather all rolled into one.
