Lamotta's chin and pressure vs Hearns punching power and boxing skill. I wouldn't be certain of how Hearns would fare vs a prime Lamotta at middle weight? What are your opinions?
Tommy was weak and terrible at middleweight. LaMotta by stoppage in 4. Hearns gets beat up hurt badly and is v
Hearns was best at Welter, and fighting Jake at middle would be difficult for him. But c'mon people. You need to give Hearns more credit here.. Hearns' jab, power, accuracy gives him a chance here if he can keep the fight outside and outpoint Jake ..imo .. Some look at the Hagler fight and forget he wobbled Hagler good and then he fractured his hand in multiple places in the first round .. That fight is over then.. It's not like Jake had ATG power.. You have to give the fight going more than 4 rounds
Yeah, I agree. And Hearns had the superior skills. Despite his power, Lamotta had too good a chin for me to say Hearns would stop him. But he very well could outbox Lamotta. But if Lamotta won, it would probably be by stoppage and I think if that happened it would come mid to late rounds.
Ya it's just really not a fair matchup for Hearns. As he was much much better at welter/super welter and not middle
Hearns tko jake in 9 Ref stops fight because of a bad cut and swollen eyes. Hearns would have busted jake up with that jab
LaMotta at his durable, cute best beats Hearns. The general opinion regarding LaMotta was as a face first, easy to hit slugger. Although at times this may have been true at his best Jake had all the cute moves, feints, counters and was a good distance tactician. At his best Jake walks through early trouble to score a late round TKO.
