Hearns would stop him ... Cal had little power. Tommy was bigger, faster and harder hitting ... Tommy also had the reach ... interesting fight but I really like Hearns in this match up ...

I'm not American, I'm not black, you lose

He was a good puncher never a big puncher and I've seen most of Joes fights.

He was always considered a slapper, I think the commentator said this during the Eubank fight

If you'd actually followed Calzaghe you may know this

I think he let off vs Jones once Roy said you are now 46-0...Joe liked Roy and did not press for the KO but against Hearns it would be more of a battle of attrition. Joe may go down early but finds a way and wears Hearns down or wins a UD

Nobody EVER outboxed Hearns and neither would JC.Hearns height and reach along with that great jab keep JC out and that righthand would keep JC honest.Hearns by either tko due to cuts or decision.

Dunno where a TKO on cuts for Hearns comes from. Calzaghe was only cut once in his career I do believe in his fight with Hopkins. Either way I think this would be an interesting fight. Hearns is one of my favourites fighters ever, and Calzaghe is my most recent favourite. I have to think Calzaghe's pressure would get to Tommy in the late rounds, accumulation stoppage. Interesting fight though.

Hearns of 1987 who fought Andries would outbox Calzaghe easily enough. Hearns of 1992 who fought Barkley would lose a decision to Calzaghe.

Get a grip, Hearns was great at WW and did achieve things at LHW but beat Calzaghe at that weight? NO.

    Calzaghe UD.

hearns for me by ud or late ko ,hearns great jab is for me the winning punch for the hitman after ten rounds of eating the jab calzaghe could well be dispatched by a great jab right hand combo

    Hearns KO1 Calzaghe

If 40 year-old versions of Hopkins and Jones can put Calzaghe down hard in the 1st then I reckon Hearns would finish him.

And I'm not even a Hearns "jocksniffer", I actually think he's overrated around here, esp. H2H !

Stylistically? Because Hearns did more at the weight than Calzaghe. And for once, Hearns doesn't really have to worry about his chin, as 36 year old Joe C couldn't punch for ****:deal

At 175, I'd tend to agree that Calzaghe proved he would get dropped early.

I tend to think Spinks/Foster/Saad/Marvin Johnson/Ezzard/Archie Moore all sorts of fighters that could be reagrded as either punchers or, in the case of Johnson, fast starters would all get to him early. As unlike B-Hop and Jones, they wouldn't let him off the hook.

Hearns, probably on points but a stoppage wouldn't surprise me.

The fact that Calzaghe consistently ate a lot of right hands throughout his career, plus his lack of power means that Hearns could open himself up a bit more.

Given that nobody ever outboxed Hearns - including Leonard x 2, Virgil Hill etc, I can't see Calzaghe making much of an impression.
