You don't know what you're talking about. You're making things up. There is no "big size difference."

Pavlik is 6'2" with a 75" inch reach.

Hearns is 6'1" with a 78' inch reach.

    Where's the big size difference?

Hearns also had over a dozen fights at middleweight. Ultimately finished his career at Lt. Heavy.

    Hearns by TKO in 4!

Jermain Taylor is not that much lesser, he spent his whole career at 160 and is a legitimate middleweight, with good speed and power( Pavlik has defensive lapses but his chin is definately good). You previously stated that Hearns was at his best at 147 and his power greatly diminished at 160 and 168. You also said that he won't be able hurt Calzaghe at 168 but now you say he takes out Pavlik in 3 rounds at 160. Your analysis is flawed.

    :D

That's right . . . he was fighting 6'2 opponents and went up to cruiser weight before he retired. No big size difference.

Hearns by TKO around the 4th, Pavlik may be bigger, but Hearns can finish what Taylor started in the 2nd round.

I think Hearns would win by either KO or UD, but if Pavlik lands those right hands it could be lights out for Hearns. I see this as a 70>30 matchup in Hearns favor, just because his boxing ability is way better than Pavlik's. Pavlik is somewhat crude, he's slow, and his punches are telegraphed.

This would be a very interesting matchup. My first initial instinct tells me that Pavlik takes this one. Hearns only chance would be to try and outbox Pavlik, which I don't think he can do because quite frankly Kelly would make him fight. I would go with Pavlik for the mid to late round t/ko. Bad matchup for Hearns

Size isn't the same thing as height you ****ing ****, look at the two bodies, tell me Pavlik isn't much bigger. Do you think Pavlik would come close to making 147 as a pro?

Pavlik. He is mor natural at the weightclass and a pure fighter where Hearns was a better boxer. I like the fighter just cause of the weight and i think hearns had a weaker chin. If hagler could catch him no doubt kelly could get to him. But who knows they both fight like each other i just watched him fight hagler alot like kelly. Both are great exciting fighters. But i like chin in stamina then slightly faster fists.

Pavlic has **** defense, he is wide open to be hit.

Hearns was able to outbox SRL for many rounds, shouldve won the rematch. Theres no doubt in my mind that Hearns could land some nasty shots on Pavlic with his leaky defense. Theres also no doubt in my mind that Hearns could put him away especially as we have seen Pavlic on the canvas from lesser hitters than Hearns.

 Have you guys seen Hearns fight?

A lot of people seem to believe that Hearns' chin is glass and if a solid power puncher catches him he will be instantly stopped. Although his chin wasn't great, I wouldn't worry about his chin against Pavlik. First, because Pavlik's one punch power isn't amazing and second, because Pavlik is too predictable and wouldn't connect any flush shots on Hearns.

Although Hearns started as a welter, his 1-punch power at 160 is much greater than Pavlik's and his technique is on a whole different level. If Taylor can seriously hurt Pavlik and connect flush on him through his shitty defense, Hearns would have no problem timing huge, accurate punches on Pavlik's chin. Hearns by early-mid TKO.

    Good read.
But Thomas Hearns kryptonite was smother/punchers that could walk through him (Hagler, and Barkley at the latter stage of his career).
I think it would be a dubious statement to say that Pavlik does not have a significant chance at catching up with Hearns late, and stop him. Thomas Hearns has got the tools to pick Kelly apart though, with probably one of the best jabs in history, followed by freakish power and a freakingly accurate right hand lead.
I wouldn't say that Tommys power is "much" greater than Pavlik's @ 160lbs, but I would agree that it is better, slightly better. And his technique is obviously superior, but don't underestimate Pavliks technique, he ALWAYS walks in with that jab, he's naturally relentless in his attacks, its a comfortable zone for Pavlik, and with that.. I would say that Pavlik is a dangerous man for anyone at 160, throughout history.

This is the same Hearns who OUTBOXED SRL twice(although he lost - but Pavlik is no SRL)! I think Pavlik will have his moments in the mid rounds but but I pick Hearns by KO in the 12th.

Pavlik wouldn't be able to walk through Hearns' punches. And he wouldn't be able to "catch up with him late" because he wouldn't last until the late rounds.. I doubt he would even last until the middle rounds. His defense is too shitty and his offense isn't good enough to give Hearns real problems. Hearns could realistically knock both Taylor and Pavlik out on the same night.
