Pavlik(right now) vs a Prime Tommy Hearns 9 times out of 10 Hearns hands him a beatdown

I think Hearns KO's Pavlik on the early rounds. Taylor nearly did, I rate hearns power even at MW in much higher regard than Taylor. On top of that his boxing skills, accuracy, speed and right hand are on another level. Hearns chin wasnt that bad, he took a few from Hagler before dropping. Kelly doesnt have Haglers chin and its possible he may not last the full 3 rounds and provided Hearns isnt stupid enough to get hit with as many shots, he should have it in the bag.

If you would actually watch the fight, you would see that by the end of the 2nd round, Taylor was initiating the clinches, becaue Pavlik had found his legs again and pressured Taylor. If people want to diss Pavlik's chances against Hearns, they better come up with something else than a kockdown in a figh where Pavlik at age 25 in the biggest fight of his career against the recgnized middleweight champion ultimately won by brutal KO.

Yes, Hearns was a master boxer. He outboxed Sugar Ray Leonard, but Leonard then switched to doing what Pavlik does best: stalking and landing power shots. If Leonard can TKO Hearns with that strategy, what would the much bigger, harder punching Pavlik who always uses this strategy do to Hearns.

you missed the point, that being that a fighter of hearns class would not let pavlik get away as easily as taylor did. pavlik simply makes too many mistakes at this point in his career to be compared with such greats with any sort of confidence.

SRL has much better ability to land shots on Hearns because of his explosiveness and speed. It would be very dificult for Pavlik to land enough meaningful shots on hearns, meanwhile his chin is not on par with Pavlik. He can be hurt and hearns could do it. He still has a very good shot of beating Hearns, I would just favour Tommy.

Exactly, Kelly has a decent chin, good stamina, and top rate power; Hearns has top rate skills & power, and a blue label chin. I suspect KP would take a beating for 7-8 rounds before connecting and winning by KO. Don't forget that Hearns was KO'd by Iran Barkley and Uriah Grant.

Hearns last fight was in ' 06 at Cruiserweight. Hearns was not too small at 6'1 .

    Hearns KO 6 or sooner.

I don't think Hearns is fighting anymore and if he was I don't he could make under Light Heavyweight. Pavlik by KO.

I'm sure someone else has already said this but...why is anyone even thinking about Tommy HEarns and Kelly Pavlik in the same thought?

Pavlik might get there....give him a few years though for crying out loud.
