Probably a very tough night for Hearns. Watson has that high guard defence and would be putting educated pressure on Hearns. But I tend to think Hearns's extra class would be the difference and he would win a tough UD.
A 4th round round knockout If Watson went the high guard route a body shot takes him out swiftly.Sure he weathered a fast powerpuncher Benns attacks in March 1988 but a prime 1985-86 MW Hearns is a far superior fighter in every way. If Watson adopted the crude slugger approach as he did versus Mccallum he also gets taken out early. Watson prime was at 168 where he really moulded his 2 styles to their best level..That Watson does a lot better especially against the worn out faded suddenly vulnerable Hearns of 1988 The 168 Watson whose prime was tragically cut would have become a very formidable fighter...he was rapidly improving. He possessed an iron will,incredible stamina and I have no doubt would have had a world title reign at 168
