Both ATGs, both have suspect chins, and incredible offensive ability....so who wins this one?

i'mma have to go with Hearns....even though his best weights at 147, with his power and speed along with his size advantage, i'd think he'd put Jones away late in the fight, somewhere around the 10th round....

Jones. To much sheer talent for Tommy at this weight. His reflexes were out of this world. Jones stops Hearns around the 7th.

You think Tommy hearns has the speed, power and size advantage?

You have seen jones fight at 160 right?

At any rate, jones by KO in about 8

jones was unhumanly strong at this weight. tommy still strong and would make it competive with his jab. both were good inside fighters as well, with jones alot of shoe shining and hearns with devastating body shots. i could see tommy dropping roy, but roy landing clean countershots. tommy liked to lean back, roy would make him pay for that. i'd have tommy as the agressor, winning first rounds and having roy against the ropes, roy countering, inviting tommy to fight instead of box, where tommy would of won a couple of rounds easier with the jab. i think tommy would tire himself out and roy would take over. roy just at his best at this weight and incredible footwork around the ring. his lead right would give tommy's jab problems

I went Jones on points, just based on his propensity to sometimes carry fighters. That said, Jones would not face real difficulties in landing on Hearns all night long and could likely stop the contest prematurely. Hearns does not beat Roy Jones, despite their both being All-Timers.

    Size advantage? Speed?

Hearns was down on both of these things.

Jones was incredible at 160. He had everything, including a solid chin
I picked Jones by KO. This fight would look quite abit like the Hopkins fight only Hearns' chin would give way late in the fight

Roy was a big hitter at middle and Hearns wasnt at his best weight, even though he had some huge wins there.

Hearns had shown he had the physical capabilities, handspeed and skill to nullify the kind of sheer athletic talent that Roy brings...but not for the whole fight, as also seen in his fight with SRL.

Roy catches him eventually. Not a one-sided bout by any means though we are talking about the Hitman here.

I think Roy would avoid Hearns attacks for a while and catch him with a good counter....people forget how much of savage puncher Roy was at 160. As much as I like Hearnsm, it's lights out within five, Roy is a bad mtachup for him.

At 160, I'd put Hearns in with the likes of Benn; not quite Elite like Hagler, Monzon etc, but World class nonetheless.

Now at 147 we're on about something completely different. Not many WW's from history I'd bet against The Hitman.

And personally, I don't think Roy's 'china chin' is that bad at all. If he can take moderate HW punches from Ruiz, he's not exactly china chinned.

Tarver caught him with a shot that would've K.O'd anyone, and Johnson got him on the temple....both fights where when Roy was past his best.

Mind you, if Calzaghe can K.O at this stage in HIS career.....then I'd be more inclined to say Jones' punch resistance isn't great.
