look son, i've already said that i'm not knocking anyone for picking roy but...JAMES TONEY WOULD BE TOMMY HEARNS?!>! WTF?!>!? Bernard would put up a fight but, VERY FEW fighters in history can outbox hearns, this is a fact....and b-hop is not of the few who can, so his best bet would be fighting on the inside and banging head and body, and trying to hold as much as possible...but the thing is Bhop has neither speed nor power advantages over Hearns, trying to fight him on the inside would be a bad move, he's much too explosive...at best he'd lose a UD while dropping him in the process hearns has fought ALL TIME GREATS people who would be considered top 10, top 20, top 30.....i'm talking Duran, Hagler, Leonard it's ridiculuous of you to think a James Toney or Bhop would be able to stop him....and i figured i'd here bias **** from you since you're a clear roy fan, but JAMES TONEY beating Hearns?, be realistic
Hearns would've beaten Toney handily IMO. Hearns/Hopkins would've been a difficult one to call. I'd probably favor Jones over Hearns at 160 though, by mid rounds KO. A lot of what you guys are debating in Hearns's favor involves work he put in at lower weights rather than MW, which is where the fight would take place.
i dont debate the fact that they were superb....i think bhops an ATG, and i also think toneys a great fighter but a prime Hearns vs. a prime Toney, toney would be outclassed.... and @ that iran barkley loss.....Hearns was like 30 when he fought him, he was by no means in his prime..and besides barkleys a hall of famer i wouldnt exactly call the people who knocked jones the **** out hall of famers, would you? but anyways, barkley, bhop, toney, even duran, hagler, and leonard are all irrelevent...because none of them pose the same style or threat that jones would hearns, or hearns would jones
When did I say anything about Hopkins or Toney stopping him? I said beat him. Toney I would not be comfortable picking at all, due to his speed issues, but he has good timing and could bang at 160, so I would not think Hearns would get battered. But Toney at 160 was a very good fighter who was clearly on Tommy's level. Hopkins is just a better fighter at 160 and had the timing power, defence, ring generalship and chin to beat Hearns. He would not let Hearns dictate. As for barkley being an HOF fighter, explain that one to me? Johnson and Tarver are both better fighters, who would beat Barkley at LHW.
Just to be logical: Just to clarify the people who picked hearns are aware that he lost to Iran friggin Barkley right? And, that 160 was nowhere nears his best weight And, that he has ZERO wins over any fighters even remotely comparable to jones at 160 pounds And yet somehow, he wins the fight? rrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhhhttttt :huh
Tommy is a great fighter no doubt bout that but Roy is fast and skilled in his prime. He takes this IMO
Thomas Hearns is not a fighter Roy fought. Hearns would outjab and him and drop the right hand on a guy who is not used to getting hit. Hearns would knock out Roy in round 4.. No doubt in my mind. Hearns was a fighter. Roy was not.
