I think Starling and Curry could possibly beat him in a close fight. Marlon would improve upon that sparring session they had, and so would Hearns, but I feel Moochie could take away his jab, and eke out a close one.

You’re on a roll. First it was “I can’t see Salvador Sanchez beating Johnny Verderosa” and now this!

It's just an opinion. If everything I have heard about the spar they had in late 81 was true, I think Marlon would have enough to trouble Tommy late, and take a UD. He wouldn't freeze up in there. Same with Curry, though I don't trust his chin even at 147. Remember, Shields lasted 13, and he didn't have the Starling skillset. So there is a chance.

Freezing up may not be the right term. Coasting is more appropriate. It was Starling’s biggest flaw as a fighter. He would take entire rounds off on the offensive end, like he was in a sparring session looking to iron out some kinks in his defensive game. To be fair, if that’s what he was doing, it worked. His defense was air tight.

At his most focused he was a terror. Like a Benitez/Quartey mixture or something. Even still, those ingredients don’t add up to beating Hearns. He didn’t have the size or power. He’d more likely be on the Benitez side of the equation in that one.
