Hopkins-hearns haha...damn 94 between the 2 of em!! There only 6 years apart....44 and 50..its a joke people please don't take me serious!!
Hearns fought many of his great fights when he was younger, so by the time he was 40 he was spent physically more than Bernard. But really, who at 44 is as sharp as Bernard? Tommy is still 6 years older which is enough.
let him fight if he wants to fight he earned it. he could fight at catch against dlh or jones jr.lol.
Would be interesting wouldn't it? Although really the advantage would be for those guys. They would not really be fighting the real Thomas Hearns. But to have them in the ring would be interesting. Although Hearns cannot fight below 175 I do not think. I think Hopkins is the only possibility. Really those fights will not happen. I am not sure why Hearns wants to fight at that age. I am one of this biggest fans, but in all honesty he has to pick and choose his fights well.
I couldnt believe i was reading this when i read it. I also just saw a video of Jesus Chavez talking about katsidis. He was blinking awkwardly and was slurring hes speech. even forgot a question like he zoned out or something before i just turned it off.
I think he tries to capture a title in one more division ;-) (Well, he was joking about going into HW and fighting Tyson in the past). I think he just doesn't know when to quit. Still, his chin should prevent him from taking too much punishment.
He doesn't fight the same as he used to. When he starts taking punishment now he sits on the ropes and puts his hands up and waits to counter. When he was younger he was more willing to exchange in the middle of being punched.
I doubt Joe will fight again. I get the feeling he really quit for good. He was talking about retirement before his last fight. It seems like a decision he really thought about in a professional way.
How about a rematch with Hagler? :think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sStsvlVF5bk I fear for Hearns' health should he fight again. Perhaps he should pursue a relaxed lifestyle, just like Hagler who seems to be well off currently.
Hagler will never fight Hearns again. I cannot imagine the shape Hagler would be in 22 years after he retired. I fear for Hearns health also if he keeps fighting. In basketball if Kobe Bryant of Shaq do not play well no one will pay them or want them on a team, so they are out of basketball. Same with tennis and someone like Agassi or Sampras. In boxing any fighter can fight and get a payday somewhere at any age usually. It is rare for a man 50 to be fighting even in the sport of boxing.
I disagree...boxing is different...Look at Oscar De La Hoya..He isn't nowhere near what he used to be but he is a huge box office draw...He could come back this year and sale a rematch with Trinidad and the fight would do at least 750,000 buys if not a mil or more and neither guy is anything special anymore.:bbb
