Vitali Klitschko, James Toney and now Tommy Hearns. Am I the only one bothered by all these fighters who retired (or should) coming back to try to re-live their 'glory days'?

If Tommy wants to, let him. I bet he can still bang.

I am not sure Delahoya/Tito fight gets that type of buy rate. I know that when it is Saturday and there is nothing to do and you know you can order a fight card, that the inclination is to order it and worry about the payment later. I am not sure about anyone else, but I am 44 and not much is going on during weekends, so I might order the fight. Doesn't mean it is good for me or boxing. If boxing is going well with the top fighters then usually these type of fights do not happen.

I am not sure I agree with the chick part of it, but you might be right on people buying it, but I think the time has come when Oscar will not sell anymore, not after quitting and being shutout on the scorecards. I do not think it should be made. If that fight is made, that eliminates the chance for a fight to be made between top fighters now. It takes up the space. One fight I would like to see is Mayweather vs. Winky if Floyd comes out of retirement like is the rumor always. Seeing two technical guys like that go at it would be great to watch.

I saw one of those ESPN best something of whatever things a long while ago that had Hearns as a commentator. Two interns had to help prop him up in a chair and put blocks under his feet. Then he started calling out Sugar Ray Leonard and then realized that he was sitting right next to him. Sugar Ray smiled, looked him in the eye, and lost that smile quick. He tried, on camera, to get the idea out of Tommy's head, but I guess it didn't work.

I've only seen Hearns on tv as a talking head since then, but I can't imagine his legs are any less twitchy than during that filming.

Just because little old ladies vote for politicians based on last names they recognize should mean that boxing commissions should do the same thing when sanctioning boxers.
    Sad, sad, sad.

I've been trying to remember... it took hours on ESPN Classic, so I guess it was a 100 best-of thing: fights, KOs, something. The reason I remember that part clearly is that Bert Sugar was on another segment of it and had an easier time getting on and off that chair.

Sorry about my spotty memory. If it comes to me, I'll pm and post it.

Found it. I'll just post it here, since I don't have enough to say this afternoon to fill 38 posts and be authorized to send private messages.

It was ESPN Classic's Ringside: Top 25 Knockouts

It had tons of boxers and trainers as guest commentators for the fights they were involved with, so the show's probably worth tracking down for that alone. The Hearns/Ray segment was a little sad to watch, like I said.

I would love to see that. Youtube is a great place to watch old fights and anything else. I have found a lot fights on there which I had not seen in years.

I have some programs on tape from the late 1980s which had Burt Sugar on a lot called Boxing Illustrated, which was a magazine then but also had a weekly show with Dave Bontempo sometimes. Remember him?
