I'd agree with this. Hearns took dozens of shots in their first round that one or 2 alone would have knocked out most the rest of the division. The Hagler fight didnt damage Tommys hitherto solid chin. I'd suggest the 1986-1988 period left Hearns chin conpromised more than it was before or after. Juan Roldan and Dennis Andries both short circuited Hearns electrical impulses...both were known for their physical strength and toughness. Both led to the Barkley capitulation. Hearns chin was damaged and more susceptible than it ever had been it was clear when Kinchen had him wobbling and hanging on for his life. Emmanuel Steward put this sudden serious issue down to a problem with Tommys legs and had Tommy work on an exercise bike and strengthen his leg muscles. Hearns was badly wobbled twice by SRL but his chin survived and in all these fights in this period 87-89 Hearns showed that incredible heart of a champion he always had. I would maintain some of Hearns problems during this period 87-89 were down to Hearns moving up to 175 than rapidly dropping to 160. Steward claimed Hearns lost the Hagler fight ,as while he was out of the dressing room, some of Hearns entourage massaged Hearns legs which Emmanuel went mad over as he felt it was a no no prefight. Hearns did have oddly rubberly legs in that fight. The 1990s 168-175 lbs Hearns seemed to regain his solid chin. It stood up well versus Olajide, Hill and Barkley second time around through 12 hellish rounds
He spent a lot of time at WW cause that was his original division he was climbing to the ranks in. But Hearns spent a lot of time at 154 he just had a few fights over that time. Also I don't think it was 9 years more like 5 or 6.
