I was also completely unaware Benitez wasn't much, certainly compared to el torito!!!!!!! Maybe some of those women he was beating on were rated top 10!!!!! It's a real clinic in here.

That is just a simple way and easy way to diagnose fights---look at their results.

Such a flawed way to think. Actually I can tell more about who a guy did not fight--and his contemporaries-- than you learn by the actual bouts they were in.

The big problems against Ayala was his footspeed. Mobility. Hand placement. He threw wide punches. Wide hooks from way on the outside.

Look at some of the other 154 guys back then on the radar screen. Not just Benetiz & Duran. Mugabi and his ko streak. Mike McCallum. Julian Jackson. I do not think Ayala wins any of those and would be ko'd. And then you have a rebuilding project on your hands and who knows how he responds to that. In a deep division.

There were talks of Tony to middle. Forget about Hagler who would chew this guy up. How about some other middles----hitters like Barkley. Roldan. Or boxers like Kalambay. Nunn. James Toney.

Overall--I just never saw Ayala being any better than say a Matthew Hilton . Limited. Yeah he might win a title but he was never ever going to make too many defenses. And when he did lose a fight it would have been a bad result.
