Not that it is likely to make a difference, but has the man ever been knocked down? I've never seen him down or even hurt. Guinn landed some very solid left hooks on him without much effect. Of course, Klitschko is no Guinn, and a very solid chin didn't do much good for McCline, Byrd and Peter when they fought Wlad. On the other hand, if Brewster didn't have a granite jaw then he wouldn't have beaten Klitschko on their first night, so i guess this Thompson's only hope. He thoroughly lacks the power, however. He does have a good workrate and that akward southpaw stance.

I don't give him much chance, but i think it's worth pointing out that his chin might be very good, and combined with the fact that he's a big southpaw, he may go the distance if Wlad's hesistent again.

Thing is, he hasn't really been in there with a hitter like Wladimir so it's hard to be certain about it. Guinn packs a fair punch so that's a fair example, but that's mainly it.

May end up a ref stoppage rather than a knockdown. Or Tony's chin might turn out to be not so grrrrrrrrrrrreat.

I don't think the fact that Thompson is supposed to have a decent beard will make much difference, because it won't be tested.

We will be treated to a repeat of the Ibragimov fight, with Wlad slapping the jabs down before responding with one of his own and running away like a little *****

Perhaps he has, but when the spotlight was on in a really important fight for both himself and the heavyweight division, he let everybody down big time.

From now on, I will always be cheering for his opponent when he fights - because it was the most boring fight I have ever seen. I always thought a fight was supposed to be a fight - not jab and run away.

None more so than when getting KO'd by Sanders. That has to be one of my favourite boxing moments of all time.

I hope he's called up about that slapping down of the jab this time. It's not a legal move.

Thompson's style beg's for a straight right hand down the middle by Wlad.
then again, that same exact avenue can be Wlad's downfall aswell, via a straight left.

My interest in this fight is getting higher as the fight comes closer.

And i have never seen that Thompson was in the same ring with a hard a solid boxer:lol: :blurp

Honestly Thompson for me is a little bit better then Austin, his southpaw stance may make him difficult to box in the first 1-2 rounds, but Thopmson has got two things missing: fast hands and punching power. These are two things that corrie sanders had.
I hope you are right with thompsons chin, because i dont want to see a 2-3 round k.o.:hi:

Your right. Wlad always does this against southpaws since he lost to sanders, e.g. Byrd or Ibragimov. Thats is an very unfair move.

I've got nothing against Klitschko & if he cleans up the belts all power to him but he does need to be called up about that slapping down of the jab. I think what made the Sanders destruction so funny was the fact it was so unexpected. Everyone expected him to brush this semi-retired South African aside & he ended up getting mullered.
