Why wouldn't he?, he's going to get another payday and has nothing to lose. Beating Price twice and Pulev would definitely earn him more money if he fights Wladimir a third time.
It would make more sense for Wlad to just drop the IBF belt than to fight Thompson a third time. But then again, he's had it so long he might not want to give it up.
If Vitali vacates or is stripped of the WBC title and Thompson beats Pulev how about having Stiverne-Thompson for the vacant belt ?
To be fair, I did mention the money part. Just thinking he could make money (not as much obviously) taking on easier euro opponents for the next couple of years as opposed to getting his ass kicked for the third straight time.
hmm, implying that wlad wouldn't be seeking an easy title defence. still a more exciting fight than pianeta and mormeck. :dead
I think I'm with the majority that would like to see Pulev win, just so we don't have to see part three of a very one sided trilogy. I do like Thompson, and hats off to him, should he win. He would have undoubtedly earned this mandatory more then his other 2 trips. If Pulev wins we get to see a new faced undefeated challenger fighting for the championship. Thompson with a good performance in a lose, and the 2 wins over Price, will still be able to find another top contender who thinks they will go right through him, so he'll still have a few more fights to make bank.
Marquess of Queensberry Rules: 2. No wrestling or hugging (clinching) allowed. Why is Wlad still allowed to fight using the London Prize Ring Rulebook, ala John L Sullivan era?
I think TT would take the fight if possible and he would earn it in the ring unlike many others, BUT it is not mentally easy for him because he got knocked out not once but twice by Wlad, this will be in his mind without a doubt.
Yeah, he needs to get by Pulev (and I favor Pulev) and Klitschko needs to get by Povetkin (which is less of a long shot :yep - but, for once there is actually some doubt about whether Klitschko might lose) so it's hardly as though Klitschko vs. Thompson III is all but signed. Couple of hurdles to clear. It hasn't really been talked about, but we might actually wind up with Povetkin vs. Pulev - how is that for changing the record? Complete opposite scenario of the unwanted Tiger-Fist III.
