According to: http://www.***********.com/?m=show&id=11312 , Tony Thompson wants to fight Wladimir, maybe around mid 2008, but also he wants to fight on Wlad's undercard.

    Who should he fight?
I would like to see the following:
    - McCall
    - Dimitrenko
    - Bidenko
    - Platov
    - Austin
    - Briggs

And isn't Wladimir fighting Chambers/Povetkin after his Iggy fight?
Who should the younger brother fight first? Chambers/Povetkin or Thompson.

    I think the former.

Thompson's the WBO mandatory, isn't he?

So I think he'd be trying hard to fight the Wladimir/Ibragimov winner for the WBO strap. Whether that happens or not is another matter, but that's the title belt he has the best leverage into fighting for.

    So it could happen, yes.

Thompson should be forced to fight the winner of Povetkin vs Chambers first to give either Klitschko or Ibragimov the opportunity to call out Chagaev for unification in the Summer... but I'm pretty sure their three sanctioning bodies wouldn't allow all that to happen.

I would hate to see Tompson/Wlad, it would be a very boring match no one will want to see. Wlad should going to fight Iggy first, then after that try to look for a fight with Chagaev in the summer and then take the fight with the Winner of Povetkin/Chambers in late 08 early 09.

There is no way Wlads fighting 4 fights in 08, your lucky if he gets 3 in. He will fight in Feb., then in either June or July, and finish out by probably fighting in December. His 3 oppenents are still up for debate, if it was up to me it would be Iggy, Maskaev, then Povetkin.

He should fight McCall. Simply because I like McCall and want him to get another big fight/eliminator again. With his granite chin and big punch McCall is always dangerous, he nearly knocked JCG out in the 10th in his last fight, but it wasn't enough...
Against Wlad, Thompson will just be another KO victim.

As far as I know, Tony T doesn't need to fight anybody cause he's the mandatory WBO Title challenger and will surely get a crack at it. Remember that Wladimir also needs to fight the winner of the IBF tourney semi-final Povetkin-Chambers so he can't fight everybody at the same time. If Tony T wants to stay active until then, I would suggest a chance to come face to face with another legit upcomer in Ukrainian Sasha Dimitrenko who is also highly rated by the WBO, but it all depends on Thompson's confidence in undertaking such a test.

I dont think I've ever watched Thompson fight, although he is ranked fairly high on Boxrec. I can't really comment on how hard of a fight this'd be for Wlad, I can assume, since I've heard his name so LITTLE on the forums, that he's no one of consequence as far as being a threat for the championship.

Assuming Wlad beats Iggy, knowing boxing politics, as he fights the Pov - Chambers winner, the WBO will strip him and Thompson will be fighting someone else for that strap.

Hey... Skelton is #6 on WBO... how's that for a scary thought?

Thompson will probably go for an easy fight, instead of risking his title shot.

I think the Wlad/Ibragimov winner will have to fight Thompson before the Chambers/Povetkin winner. Thompson became mandatory a few months back. Since then, Ibragimov already had a voulentary defense and Thompson fought another fight, while Chambers and Povetkin haven´t even fought each other yet.

I think a Wlad vs Thompson fight would probably play out as a jab / feeling out slow fight untill Wlad finds his range and bombs Thompson out of there.

There is no need to fight Maskaev, because Maskaev will probably lose to Peter who will then lose to Vitali and who will then have to face Virchis/Gomez winner. The WBC belt is scheduled for the whole 2008.

Wlad should fight Povetkin/Chambers winner in the summer. The following would be good for him to fight the following boxer, preference in this order for the late 2008:
    1. Chagaev
    2. Valuev
    3. Thompson
    4. Dimitrenko

Virchis is also a good contender, but he is already scheduled for a big fight with the winner of the (Maskaev/Peters)/V.Klitschko battle if he can pass Gomez.
