my facebook was lit up pre fight with mcgregor fanboys predicting their boy would get up and now its nothing but salty salty tears and they cant even call floyd a runner or hugger because he was constantly pushing forward and connor initiated WAY more clinches easiest 450 iv ever made (spent the whole week at work getting talked down from putting a cheeky 10k on floyd which would have returned 12.3, now i have curse all of those naysayers)
those mma fans are stupid everyone knew connor had no chance the moment Floyd decided to walk him down from the start(he never does that) I knew it was over Floyd never does that if he is concerned with the fighter its was a farce like everyone predicted
I'm trained in both boxing and MMA, Conor did pretty well but gassed out as most informed fans thought he would. Respect to FLoyd as well. He walked him down and stopped him. No excuse, no bull****, great fight.
i saw the plan early on dont get me wrong, i think it was round 3 i turned to all my mates and said "notice this round floyd has not stopped moving forward, punching or not" but that was what worried me, he was pressing connor with barely any punches and connor was landing here and there (almost none of them he was throwing with conviction which i felt just as wierd). i was worried maybe those 2 factors would cause connors tank to last the 12 and those early rounds may have won him a fight potentially. mcgregor for the most part showed some talent if he just worked on his stamina, hed be an amazing 6 or 8 round fighter
Overmatched perhaps, but certainly not lost. His style actually reminded me quite a lot of Tyson Fury. Not as clean but he touched Floyd with a few clean shots. Did well in the clinch as well.
when Floyd walks you down from the start and does not care about whats coming back then you know how **** the fighter is.
Floyd walked him down to keep him from really setting his feet to throw, but keeping Conor active to sap his gas tank. Patient aggression. Conor relies on a full on rush or punching from a stand still to really generate his power, by staying in his face in a persistant way Floyd didn't give him the opportunity to really try and snap a hard shot. To be expected from somebody who is rarely forced in MMA to use lateral footwork. He landed more than many other top level boxers but is obviously unpolished in pure boxing. A Pure boxer would have followed his left uppercut with the right hook. Conor has all the pieces to become a great boxer, but he just hasn't spent the time. But his cardio has always been his main problem and it likely always will be.
Jeez, please stop the circle jerk. Conor is going to sell millions of PPVs. Will boxing survive after this fight?
I don't think you get it. I don't think people has looked at the big picture. MMA just got a boost tonight and Boxing probably took a hit. Mayweather just retired (again). If this fight does well, it's because MMA fans bought it. Crawford and Lomachenko just fought on ESPN. The only draw left is Canelo and he hasn't sold all that well recently. Boxing's only hope is GGG/Canelo doing well on PPV, or else it'll become an even smaller niche.
