Sports always have their ups and downs especially boxing. MMA won't go away. UFC may go bust or sold on the cheap because the hollywood owners grossly over paid in the purchase of UFC. It isn't worth 4 billion, lol. UFC took a hit for a man who's much bigger than Floyd then talked nonsense and got stopped by a guy who's 40 with brittle hands. MMA is great. UFC is not and too samey with the production value. Plus Dana White is a douchnozzle. I rather watch russian mma. UFC fanboys always disrespecting boxing are the worst. I don't think boxing purists really give a **** about the ''boxing vs mma'' stuff. It's usually always the ufc fanboys who keep sounding insecure with the ''boxing is dead'' narrative.
I totally disagree. The other two being on ESPN was great for boxing as it allows fighters to get the exposure to not only show case their talents but to get their name out to the general public, both stopped their opponents, Crawford with a horrific body shot. The PPV model of boxing needs to die already. Get those guys on basic cable and let their fandoms grow. Keep making good fights and keep the political nonsense to a minimum and boxing as a whole will grow.
According to almost everyone on this forum, he had 0 chance, shouldn't even win a round or last more than 6 rounds. It's boxing that lost. Bring this up the next time Conor headlines a card on the UFC. Watch how easily it'll top 1 million PPV. And you let me know when amazing boxers like Crawford and Lomachenko can sell a PPV.
I gave Conor a 10 percent chance because i've watched most of his mma fights and i took into account the size factor, reach and his awkwardness against a much smaller man frame wise coming off a two year layoff. I figured he'd make it awkward in the early rounds and he's a tough fella. I also knew his stamina isn't great and it's a big weakness of his. He's a weight bully he cuts too much weight then rehydrates which makes him gas more. People like to ignore the genetic factors and how age played a role. I predicted a ninth round tko off by a round.
That's the spirit. PBC was supposed to bring in fans by giving fighters exposure on free network TV. How is that coming along so far?
About as well as the dozens of MMA promotions that have gone under or were bought out. Some of them were even on network TV. Once again I;m not hating on MMA, I'm trained in MMA. But to say this fight is the death of boxing because an MMA fighter did good for a few rounds is laughable.
I said probably. A 29 year old Toney at MW(in boxing) DOES knock out Conor. There's no ifs, or buts about it.
I think you've mistaken. The decline of boxing has started 2 years ago, right after Mayweather/Pacquiao. After tonight's fight, will boxing fans be as willing to pay for a boxing PPV as they did in the past? I'm starting to have doubts.
