Then perhaps Degale should of shut his ****ing mouth on the run up to this fight and walked the walk when he got into the ring.

Instead, he looked far from being the world beater he'd have us believe he was whilst Groves proved he had far more skill than we expected.

It was a close fight and Groves nicked it. Most people thought so. So did the judges.
But of course, you and your mate must know better than everyone else.

Totally agree!!.. only the UK would try to derail their best prospect!! :patsch, Degale should throw that gold medal in the bin!!..fighting for his country was an absolute waste of time after the way he's been treated.

I can't understand how people think the commentators were biased towards groves, Even after the fight, nobody said "well done to george groves" or "great display of boxing by george" it was all about degale not boxing well, or degale didn't show "what he could do"

I totally disagree with that, and as a commentator you have to be impartial in my opinion, but they were totally taking it away from groves and it was his fight, a win is a win.

That was a great display of boxing by both (barring the fouls) however Degale is a cocky tit who actually started to believe his own shite.

All due respect to you, but I think that's a lot of ****.

EVERY time we get a close decision, we have someone on the forum saying "turn the sound of" because they disagreed with the decision. Turning the sound of is a ridiculous thing to do, especially when hearing punches is such an important part of guaging them. Nothing looks real to me with the sound of.

And the idea that I, and most of these other guys, can't score a round for ourselves because some other geezer is rabbiting in our ears about it is pretty insulting, especially when you also write about those guys scoring the fight for the fighter you and your friend thought won.

This is a close fight. There are going to be disagreements on the cards. I can see that fight any one of three ways, same as Watson-Eubank I.

He's on point with regards to the commentary team. Constantly criticising DeGale when Groves really wasn't up to much himself. You've never muted a fight before? I'm always having to do it with that Jim Watt. He's clueless.

    I love Jim Watt.

No, people always say it about Hagler-Sugar, but I don't understand it. I'm between rounds for Hopkins Pascal right now. In the fourth, Pascal threw a straight right hand to the body. Unless you have a 3-D tv and it works well (never watched a fight on one) you are ot going to tell that that punch landed hard unless the sound is up. I don't understand this "with the sound of" thing at all, and for this reason I wouldn't really trust a sound of scorecard, but in the main, I just don't buy that competent boxing fans are unable to make their own minds up. Some guys, yeah, but not the majority interested enough to make a scorecard and then bring it to this forum.

The commentary team, I tend to agree with you on that BUT, so what? That's there job. What they expected to see was DeGale bossing and out-boxing Groves. What they actually saw was the reverse. It's not like they weren't pointing out the good punches DeGale landed or expressing themselves when he won rounds - Watt scored the fight for DeGale for Christ sake.

I thought the commentary reflected the reality well enough that I wasn't particularly dis-satisfied with it. The guys who were disatisfied with it will tend to be the guys who scored the fight for DeGale.

    However, Groves won the fight.

This is always the same, every time there's a close fight, it happens every time.

Just to reiterate, I scored it a draw.

it's how u score them first 8 rds.

cos degale took 3 of the last 4.

thought groves backfoot tactics were getting dicked on too much. :smooch

i accept it was open to interpretation though.

Yet Watt and Darke had DeGale winning. You ****ing spastic - the bias against Groves was palpable.

I had it by one point to groves, Degale was looking to knock out Groves, Groves was looking to out score Degale, that was the difference and I did say Degale was putting too much pressure on himself with all his threats and boasts, the same as Hagler and Leonard.

    i gave degale the 3rd.

deffo one of those swing rds.

if u nicked groves a few of those close early rds then u likely had him winning.

down the stretch was where degale took it for me.

after a nip and tuck first 8 rds.

but i accept it was a close fight.

certainly ain't crying robbery about it. :yep

Degale was using his head as well. Groves was simply better on the night, and out-thinked him. I think Degale was even lucky with that nasty cut Groves suffered, it looked as though his vision was blurred because of it.

Groves won for me. Degale looked clueless in there.

Spot on I had it 3 or 4 rounds for Degale. He clearly did the better work. Groves was on the backfoot all night and didn't do much effective work. Degale was made to miss at times but he showed quality when he did step up and put punches together. Those saying Groves outworked Degale are talking nonsense. You don't outwork someome by backing up and not landing enough meaningful shots. Watch without that bull**** commentary and you should arrive at a similar scorecard.

Seriously Groves did hardly anything himself and going backward. He never once dictated the pace and yes landed a few decent counters but never really enough to win most of the rounds.

Yes, the Ringside boys are all Degale as well, when groves was on Ringside he noticed it himself, one of the most Hyped fighters. Degale turned down a world title shot for Groves ? Did people really believe that ?

I had it to Groves 115-113.
