Like when did american newcomers turn into such douche bags? Garcia, tank, haney, lopez fight anybody but each other, they all come of like complete jerks who dont want to rematch anybody when they had a close fight and now the first 3 all want to jump on camboses cause they believe its a much easier fight then taking the belts from Loma or Lopez, especially with his lack of financial backing.
An ounce of style is worth a pound of substance. This all traces back to David Haye, really. He's the first boxer in the digital age to grossly oversell his abilities, take calculated soft touches to a mega payday. People blame Floyd for a lot of this, but Floyd is an ATG fighter with ATG skills proven time and again. These lightweight douches aren't. They're following the Haye blueprint, if anything.
I mean it's the same story that's been around the last 10-15 odd years for boxing. New up and comers getting known by highlight clips on instagram with resumes thinner than paper. There's a lot of fighters in this current system who really wanna set a mold for themselves, Canelo and Usyk definitely come to mind. Then there are those that're happy sitting back and getting their million dollar paydays for sub par shitty fights for years straight, hyped on by their shitty promotional contracts until theyre 35+ and decide it's time to finally have a legacy fight or two (Terence Crawford who moved to welterweight over 4 years ago before actually fighting a decent name comes to mind).
