we've seen it time and again, those ring ads on the canvas are slippery when wet and have caused many boxers to slip and fall. this time Andre Dirrell not only fell but almost got killed. He was out and punches like that could have given him brain damage. i mean really he mioght never be the same after that shot. he was out of it 20 minutes later. he might still be out of it today. they gotta change those ring ads or ban them. also laurence cole is a BUFFOON. how many times has that clown made bad calls? he miseed the Abraham knockdown of Direel. this was a great fight that was going to get really interesting as Abrham was turning on the heat and getting close. Direell was tiring. the foul screwed the ending. Cole is a joke, awesome performance by Dirrell. Abarham might have cheated himself out of a awesome comeback win. rematch will be huge.
iv always wondered why not sew the adds in the ring instead of just putting stickers on it might cost more but surely its worth it for fair fights
How greedy can these promoters and Showtime be that ad revenue is more important than the safety of the fighters in the ring?
i always remember barrera morales 3 in the 12th when barrera slips on the sticker because i was desperate for barrera to win and knew the cards would be close i absolutely crapped myself lol
They would get better advertisement there too because some guys in the audience aren't staring at the mat, they're looking at the card girls in between rounds.
First time ever that I've agreed with the thread started but he's right these ads need to go. There has to be another way to advertise.
the ads can and need to stay to be honest. what needs to be looked at is where they are positioned in the ring and what material they are made of. they need to be kept away from the fighters corners as they likely to get wet and need to be of a less plasticy non slippery material that is consistant with the canvas of the ring.
