In A Recent Thread I've Posted Asking Do You Think Boxers Becomeing Promoters Can It Hurt The Sport & Promote Fight Fixing? I Was Told That Oscar Dela Hoya Now Owns Ring Magazine I Did A Little Home Work And Found This To Be True
(thanx Good Right Hand) Since I Can Remember The Ring Magazine Has Been The Boxing Authority So Those It Lose Any Of Its Credibility Now That Its Owned By A Boxer/promoter?
( I Smell A Monopoly) What Do You Think?

One thing I'm wary off was the Ring Top 100.

    #15....Oscar De La Hoya.

Just like Rupert Murdoch owning the Wall Street Journal, NO, it is a clear conflict of interests and should not be allowed.

Oscar is a top 25 guy, not top 15, this makes em nervous as well.

Nigel Collins, the editor of the Ring, and a respected figure in the sport, has given complete assurance that there will be no interference on the part GDP in the operation of the Ring. I believe they have put it in a legal blind trust, so that there is no direct authority of GDP personnel over the operations or editorial decisions of the Ring.

Those who wish to see bias, even where none may exist, will continue to make allegations. I agree that it is not the best arrangement for the sport - for the perception itself is not good for the reputation of The Ring, even if all involved are honorable, but if given the assurances Collins has offered, I am not overly concerned.

Nigel Collins - for good reason - has an impeccable reputation in this sport, and I suspect if there were interference, he would object and leave. That's good enough for me.

I had lost a little skepticism when in this months issue there were a couple of little things that did in fact kind of bash ODH. This was what I was waiting to see. I will have to re-flip thru the issue to give you guys specifics, but I indeed read a few things where there were no punches pulled for the bosses sake.

Not as important as Rupert Murdochs attempt to monopolize the media but yeah, you are right.

Agreed. I think it was William Detloff (maybe not) that was bashing De La Hoya for claiming that his fight with Mayweather "saved boxing".

We'll have to wait and see, but so far so good.

We'll have to see when their rankings come out because if its lost its integrity. If hopkins beats Witter and he becomes undisputed LWW champ then you have a point.
