Because Pac and Kov were WAY MORE convincing wins. GGG beat a guy that was bigger, heavier and a big puncher himself. GGG is suffering from the prime Pac syndrome where when someone survives Pac/GGG they automatically won. No matter how you slice it, no matter how much sugar you sprinkle on the top, GGG beat Jacobs, it was a classy win, Jacobs tried to back peddle a lot and fight in spurts, GGG hurt him, put him down and dictated the tempo while out boxing him, it showed that GGG can do things Mayweather couldn't, beat a bigger and faster man. GGG's stock is on the rise if anything.
I think Kovalev won. But I'm not so sure about GGG tonight. It was a close fight. I think some of the close rounds where nothing decisive happened you could give to GGG for coming forward.
Why? They're three different fights. You think fights should be scored en bloc? I thought GG won by the way...
Golovkin 6-6 + KD won barely,Kovalev 8-4 +KD and Pacman lost 4-8 or 5-7 type of decision while fighting with an injury.
Mayweather seems to have distorted a lot of boxing fans perspective now. Now we are all used to seeing Kov, GGG and Pac dominate opponents easily but what happens when it's a closer fight? it seems to swing completely the opposite way on the pendulum. Kov obviously out boxed Ward, probably the easiest one to accept was a clear victory. GGG adapted his style and used it to beat a much bigger and even faster Jacob, this wasn't what we are used to, but does it make it any less impressive? no. He clearly did the best work, dictated the pace and won the fight. Now Pacquaio the same, we are used to whirlwind performances, but against Mayweather, Floyd fought so negatively after he felt pacs power than Pac was forced to adapt his style, counter Floyd and use his smarts to again beat a much bigger opponent who refused to engage. The common denominator here is this: Black American boxers, all on home turf with American judges all fighting negatively and commentators denouncing the foreign fighters to pervert the course of justice.
I had Ward 114-113 against Kovalev, Jacobs 114-113 against Golovkin and May 115-113 against Pacquiao. I rooted for Kovalev, Golovkin and Pac in all of these fights. I think all of them are arguable, May-Pac the least, but still.
To a certain extent I agree. We are so used to GGG smashing everyone that it's a bit of a shock when he's taken 12 for the first time. Before the fight everyone is saying this is Golovkins toughest fight and it turned out that way. Did look a bit like age might be catching up with Golovkin though.
Yeah that's what I thought re those close rounds,I do agree with the poster in that because we're so used to Golvkin winning by KO anything other than that is considered a victory, from round six though I thought as soon Jacobs got his own jab going he looked so much better but as is often the case in a close contest judges are often swayed by a knock down, intent and the more hurtful punches, anyway as far as I'm concerned I'm just glad we saw the best of Danny Jacobs last night and I do think it answers the question of GGG competing at 168,I'm of the opinion he'd struggle against the top 168 guys?
Oh but they won't. Lol! We already know that. And GGG won that fight by effective pressure, more punches thrown and landed and doing more damage. Case closed!! And what do those ****tards like to say regarding fights like Kovalev v.s Ward and Mayweather v.s Castillo 1... DEAL WITH IT!!!!
In a close contest where one is knocked down to expect to be given the win is somewhat unrealistic unless said guy did some damage of his own
Golovkin I thought won comfortably, Kov was just very easy to score. Pac, well it's a difficult match to score as we are conditioned to accepting Mayweathers negative performances, the commentary on all Mayweathers fights would lead us to believe he is untouchable, even against Maidana, where others would be penalised for not showing aggression or workrate, he is rewarded, then with Pacquaio we expect a whirlwind, I will say Mayweather Pac was close, but Pac with injuries and all won, he was a much smaller man and he bullied Mayweather when Floyd claimed he would be the bully. People say Floyd can adapt, the truth is he has one way of fighting and he tried but couldn't change it to fight Pac and put on a show, so he regressed and relied on the home judges which have never let him down as he is a Vegas resident.
