LOL! No one thought Gomez would last 12 man! they were betting on a 1st, 2nd or 3rd ko for Cotto. Marg is very strong to the body....Cotto is too, so it's the chins that will be the test for both guys and Marg has the stronger Chin.

 

One thing not to leave out here is that Williams took a shitload of punishment in that fight. The people at ringside attested to those shots being very hard and despite not being knocked down, Williams was pretty shook up late in the fight.

I think Williams just takes a helluva shot at welter (as well he should he's 6'2" 160lbs easy).

I do not think Cotto can absorb the same kind of damage Williams can. And I mean look at the Quintana fight. Quintana hit Williams with everything and he was never hurt.

 

I don't think he was seriously hurt, but I definitely thought he was stunned a few times.

 

But would you agree that Williams probably has the best or second best chin at welter?

I personally don't see him getting knocked out. He's been hit flush by two very capable punchers already and nothing happened.

 

I'd place him below number two. Margarito and Mosley both have better chins to start. How about Clottey?

 

I'm really not sure where I'd put Clottey as I've not seen him take too many clean shots on the chin. Mosley being high is also warrented. But no doubt Williams is up there.

I agree with that. And I really wish he'd have moved up after that lackluster performance against Quintana. I do believe this is the year because he's entering his late 20s now and thats about when the weight starts coming on out of control. Either this year or next he'll likely be a jr.middle.

Although 154 is a totally different ballgame as you have guys there who are also weight draining that hit 170-175 easily. Santos being one of them.

 

Hey guys, sorry to go backwards here but in the first sparring clip, is that margo in the blue singlet. If it is, he may be keeping his elbows low to protect the body which is all well and good fighting a body lover like cotto, but that combined with the fact that he leans over to his right to evade the jab, leaves him pretty open to a quick 1-2. Saw it landed on him like 4 times in a row, and then again a few seconds later. That, landed often enough and sometime maybe followed by a left uppercut (also wide open due to lean over) and margo may be in trouble l8 in ze fight. Hope the trainers notice this and fix it quik smart.

In saying that, if margo is actually in the white shirt, please diregard.
