If you gamble often you will know that this line is brewing a storm for a possible upset. This is basically close to even money in real life.

You need to know that Donaire is the more popular fighter so money tilts in his direction. More fan base, more boxing politic pull.

Same skill level fighters with equal popular appeal is even money ( -120 vs -120)

However, being popular + location will bump 100 to 200 points by itself.

Oddsmakers KNOWS people are going to bet on Donaire bc he is more popular, people heard of him, and pinoys will support him and he is ONLY -260? HE IS AFFORDABLE. Why would the Oddsmaker make Donaire bettable???? Unless they know there is a good chance he will get beat. Sounds like he is in possible danger if you ask me.

 

Post the odds you're referring to. I sure as hell hope you weren't thinking of those ridiculous Donaire -1000 favorite figures quoted a few days ago since it's been demonstrated repeatedly that those numbers were not what this fight opened at from actual bookmakers. Rigondeaux is predictably the underdog but he's less of an underdog than any Donaire opponent since Montiel.

 

Donaire is not ****ing 10-1 favorite. he is 2.5 - 1. People in ESB will believe anything i swear.

 

And for the people who thinks the number is irrelevant.... they are wrong. The Oddsmakers are deadly accurate. They do mess up but generally they are spot on. You can find out the winner or a potential upset just by looking at the line.

 

The odds on Rigo are enticing and I will be taking them and making money. Rigo a G, Donaire brings nothing he hasn't seen before. Talking about a master boxer vs a master athlete here. This is boxing, therefore Rigo wins.

Donaire cannot make too many mistakes in this fight but Rigo cannot make ONE. Rigo has a much smaller margin of error than Donaire and thats what the bookies are looking at.
