I would challenge you to rewatch the Chico fight (I rewatched it yesterday), it was one of the more masterful performances (both offensively and defensively) that you will see. He was aggressive, got off first, used combo's throughout, and dropped the bigger man multiple times. He also was able to control distance and control the overall pace of the fight. One of the more complete, masterful performances of his career.

In this fight you will also see some of the tools that will allow him to have success against Manny...he consistantly got off first and kept Chico off balance and out of rythmn with his jab, jabbed both to the body and the head, utilized the same straight right lead, and he scored three KD's from the left hook. Just a brilliant performance against a bigger, stronger, power punching fighter. I recognize Chico and Manny aren't the same, and that wasn't my implication, which is why there are two seperate paragraphs the ideas aren't necessarily linked.

Floyds good all around with an emphasis on slipping shots, timing and countering.

Floyd isn't willing to take alot of risks in the ring because he doesn't need to. He beats people by boxing.

I think people forget how good Mayweather was at 130/135. He wasn't as defensive as he currently is and he was very good offensively. He's better defensively now and because of his size, he doesn't attack as much but he still has very good skills going forward. He picks punches excellently.

His performance against Chico was the best exhibition of boxing in this era no doubt:deal but PBF doesn't fight like that anymore. If we were judging his offense back at 130 I would rate it 9 or 9.5 but the current PBF is a 8. With that said he has enough offense even now to give Pac hell.

Absolutely, I recognize that he isn't "that guy" anymore, my point was simply that his offensive skills are overshadowed by his defense, and it would appear are somewhat underrated. He certainly has the ability to step on the gas, and his offense/defense collectively are a difficult code to crack. It's tough to watch that and not just say "Wow!".

Absolutely agree. He completely bitched Chico, as in absolutely ****ed him up from the opening bell until the end.

It seems to be forgotten in time just how much of a BEAST Chico was at the time, too.

If Floyd still fought like that, he woudln't have to act like a punk to sell a fight. Was a masterful performance!

Age has a way of doing that to us all I figure.

Age also brings maturity to a lot of people. Floyd seemed to have gotten worse as he got older.

This is ironic in a couple of ways. For one, he's gotten more popular as he's gotten more mouthy. Second, he came at Corrales pretty hard in the pre fight buildup and talked a lot of ****.

That fight is like 20 years old bro, let's talk about 147 and above.

Floyd dominated and laid the smackdown in that fight for sure though.

This is my favourite Floyd performance. Everything came together perfectly and he looked unbeatable on that night.

Oh yeah, I remember the **** he said about Chico. Now that's some major irony now! But yeah, agree with you here.

Personally, I like Floyd flawless performance over Gatti more than the Corrales fight.
