Seriously, how can anyone defend a low-life like Tyson? If you like him as a boxer fine, but the fools who come to his defense and make excuses for why he should be looked upon sympathetically are a disgrace. His treatment of women, convicted ******, derogatory comments of people using racism and other prejudices, as well as disgraceful tactics used in the ring are to be admonished, not admired. He could have had an amazing legacy, but he threw it away.:nono http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwFW834Mrcc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnJc5Rbh2Sc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C7p6OTTP1Q&feature=related
Okay, if you want to worship the Tyson from the 1980s, well, fine......... But the '90s version of Mike Tyson was utterly sad and somewhat moronic........ The 21st century version of Mike Tyson as a fighter, was utterly horrid..... Peace... MR.BILL
STFU all you or i should care about is what a fighter does in the ring. thats all no more no less wat he does in his private life is his own bussiness. but the majority of fighters are street guys with a thug like mentality anyway for most if they didnt find boxing they would be dead or in jail. and you seem to be forgetting that boxing is about violence not about kissing and hugging not all fighters can be like ray leonard good guy outside ring bad mother****er inside. for some ther bad mofo's 24/7
But it's also become fashionable to bash him, hasn't it? Let's be frank here, many, many boxers haven't exactly been the classiest of people.
Yep. We want boxers to be killers inside the ring and model citizens outside of it. It usually doesn't work like that. Oddly enough, I think you'll have to go a long way to find a pro fighter that actually dislikes him.
Speaking of his in ring accomplishments - Yes he was a great KO artist, yes he beat alot of men in the 1980's, and yes he was heavyweight champion and ran through the HW division like a freight train. However... Name me one top 10 Heavyweight he ever defeated while in their prime, explain to me how he should be considered as one of the greatest HW champs of all time because I dont think anyone can, and I dare anyone to try to even come close to argueing the fact that Tyrell Biggs, and Frank Bruno both had Tyson beat until they diverted from their original game plan and began trading with Tyson at close quarters thus giving Mike the advantage and eventually serving Mike their heads on a plater for Tyson to KO with his power. Mike Tyson was a good fighter and a tremendous puncher, but thats where it ends. He had a decent chin and decent skills. A former HW champion he was and he will always be remembered as he should be, but he is not one of the greatest of all time in the sport of boxing. All personal things aside I respect the man for what he brought to the ring, and that was courage and a hell of a punch. He did not bring to the ring a legacy that should be considered with the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Jack Johnson, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, or even Lennox Lewis.
:good Thats my view. You can never believe what you read anyway & you are unlikely to get to know the real Tyson in personal life so judge him by the only thing we can with 100% proof.... & thats the footage of him in the ring & he was one of the best ever HWTs... I have him at no3 behind Ali & Louis. Botswana :thumbsup
Some of us have strange senses of humor. I personally think Tyson was a great great fighter...but his press conferences and interviews are stuff of legend.
for ferocity on the ring, he is number one on my list. and that is even the pre-prison and ear chomping days of his. so i am a fan of his, as a boxer. tremendous handspeed. actually very short for a heavyweight. he was only 5'11 but i think more like 5'10''. but muscles and bones probably bloated his weight. but off the ring, he was off balanced with domestic troubles. but then again, let us not ask too much of fighters. there would have to be some sense of fatalism in one person to go up the ring and actually trade punches. people die from this stuff. basically, what i am saying is that a lot of fighters have troubled souls or demons inside of them. that should not be difficult to comprehend.
I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to want fighters to be somewhat law abiding citizens. You don't have to be a nice guy but some of the stuff Tyson is accused of doing/HAS done is pretty ****ing brutal. People are going to be disgusted because that kind of should be the reaction to some of the things Mike is accused of doing/has admitted to doing.
He is just stupid and insane person .... if he didn't box there is no doubt in my mind he would have spent life in prison.
Amazing at his peak, H2H would beat most greats, speed + power combined was outstanding, terriffic all round skillset & excellent stamina. Holmes never fought in any better an era than Tyson & he is ALWAYS right up there. The fact that Tyson went off the rails & ruined himself is the ONLY thing that should go against him when discussing his all time greatness IMO but nobody is perfect & the good points in his prime yrs outweigh the bad. Thats my view anyway.
