There are a lot of things you can say about JT: 1) His looks, personality, story, Olympic pedigree, etc. caught the eyes of HBO and he had a very quick rise to the top 2) His first fight against B-Hop was very close, ugly and controversial...regardless, he didn't "take" the title away as much as it was given to him...either by the judges or by B-Hops' "I think I'll start throwing punches in round #7" strategy. 3) He's never ducked anyone...his easy fights were against Ouma and Spinks...small guys, but both champions...he fought B-Hop, Winky, Ouma, Spinks, Pavlik, Lacey and Froch...better competition than any of his peers with the possible exception of B-Hop and Hatton. 4) His talent is obvious 5) His flaws are obvious 6) When you combine his talent with his flaws, the results of his fights are easy to predict...he'll win the early rounds on activity and physical skill, but he'll lose the later rounds when he gets worn out. He gets worn out because he takes too much punishment and he wastes his energy by throwing dumb punches and moving when he doesn't have too...if he is going to win a decision, he must win rounds 1-7 in a convincing fashion because he will lose 8-12 without question. When you look at the above, you have to come to the conclusion that he needs better training. I didn't think Manny was a good fit...I think he is doing better with his boyhood trainer than he did with Manny or that guy from Florida. His most obvious problems are defense and conditioning...therefore the most obvious solution is: FLOYD JOY MAYWEATHER SENIOR!!!!! I think he should hire Floyd, learn to block a punch...run his ass off, etc. and then fight about 4-5 bums ala Roy Jones and then get back on Showtime to fight a top contender and then a rematch with Froch...do this over a period of a year and a half. Be super active, live at the fight weight...and try and live up to his gifts.
