Among the usual 24-7 nonsense tonight, two small things stuck out, one boxing related, one not. -First was hearing Gang Starr, and thinking of MC Guru's recent passing. All true hip-hop heads recognize the greatness of Gang Starr - RIP Guru. Truly one of a kind. -Floyd said that someone at the gym told him that he trains like he's broke. What are your thoughts on this? Love him or hate him (and I have become pretty tired of his antics), Mayweather still seems to train like it's life and death, despite growing fame and wealth. At this point financially in Mike Tyson's career, he was already lazy and unfocused.
-I feel you man. MC Guru's death was devestating to the hip hop community and he will truely be missed. R.I.P. Guru -I am a huge fan of Floyd and will be rooting for him on May 1st. There is no question that he is one of if not the hardest training fighter out there today. Some people (mainly people outside of the culture Floyd grew up and surrounds himself with) just dont understand Floyd when he talks so much ****. One of my best friends is just like Floyd in the sense that he clowns around alot and talks ****. Its not coming from a malicious mind set but its just to get a rise out of you. That is what Floyd does because when he accomplishes this then the fight is basically over. I truely believe, matter of fact I know he doesnt believe all that **** he says, to an extent. We got to remember that only God can judge Floyd, not us. Nobody knows what kind of person Floyd truely is but Floyd. That is why I dont buy into all the talk because I know its just hype, nothing more. I judge Floyd in the ring only, and so far he has shown me that hes the best. On a side note, I really like the way the Mosley camp conducts themselves, especially Nazim. That is a REAL dude right there and I am happy that Floyd has not said anything bad about him as I might lose some respect for him.
Although I am a big Mosely fan, I could not watch the show. I find Mayweather to disgusting to tolerate.
Haven't seen it yet but was sad to hear of Guru's passing and even more sorry to hear of problems with his family and his "partner" Solar during his last few weeks before passing! I used to love Tyson but felt let down when he used to come in the ring under prepared I think that is unacceptible and it's one of PBF's biggest assest that every fight he pushes himself like he does! Trash talking dont bother me, just rubbish I ignore it in most cases!
Nazim made some great comments on Floyd about how typically people who talk trash can't fight, but Floyd is an exception to that. People should give him credit for that. Floyd has never lost his focus, despite achieving fame and fortune in spades.
I'm a fan of both both admitingly Floyd was annoying me and wasn't even funny. Just train, talk about some highlights of yer life and career then shut up. Him saying Mosley,"disrespected his father" was uncalled for.
I'd take Gang Starr over Any rap/hip-hop preformers ever. Guru had a great voice and Premier is in my humble opinion the best D.J. "Moment of Truth" is the very best rap song once again in my humble opinion. Like him or not Floyd Mayweather trains his butt of for his fights. There's a reason he's unbeaten. Please don't bother bringing up Caslitio 1. It might not have been him at his best but he did win and no it was not a robbery.
Are we really at that point in pro sports/entertainment as a society where doing the things you're supposed to be doing to stay at the top of your game is commendable? Unfortunately, I think we've all just become accustomed to seeing our favorite champions lose their hunger & drive. That used to never be the case... In past eras, the elite champions would fade due to the passing of time, & not because of a lack of discipline induced, in part, from being overpaid & over-revered.
