Thoughts from Star Power

Alright so I am finally home and wanted to give my thoughts on the card.

1. Josesito Lopez should have pressured more. Vargas can not handle pressure very well. I dont really see either as a major player at 140.

2. Morales put on the fight of the night as usual. Cano actually is much better than i thought he would be. I expected a can but he has skills and good power. I actually think he is better than Vargas and Lopez. He does remind me alot of Matthysse. Solid skills and good power. Not as big a puncher as Matthysse. I think Cano will be a great addition to the 140 division and the kid is only 21 training under Rudy who is a great trainer.
Congrats Morales.

3. Bad showing for Canelo. Why did you do this Canelo!?!?
I think he could have stopped Gomez within 3 after the first round. I think he tried to carry Gomez and try new things but it went horribly wrong. Gomez was game and although not elite he is a tough fight for anyone. I think as soon as he saw he was losing he stepped it up and stopped him like we all thought he would have. Also it was pretty obvious he wanted to KO him with a big counter shot probably to leave him lifeless on the canvas and that also did not work. Anyways he took a step backward with the public tonight.

4. I think this was by far the worst fight of the night. It had good potential and it was just starting to get good. You fools can say all you want but Ortiz was making PBF uncomfortable and starting to land with more regularity. The headbutt was idiotic but i can understand why he would do it. PBF as usual was using his elbows and Cortez was not doing **** so Ortiz retaliated but then the ****** didnt put his gloves up. Tapping gloves would have been good enough why the **** you hugging!?
PBF showed he is a ***** and Cortez is the worst ref ever. Well after the dude that reffed Mares-Agbeko. All you PBF fanboys are idiots for saying it would happen anyways, it was within the rules and blah blah blah. You guys are so ****ing blind. PBF just robbed us of a good fight and you are still sucking his dick. ****ing ***gots.



5. This is what pissed me off for the most part. Morales is my favorite fighter of all times and although i know that belt didnt mean much the HBO crew didnt have to keep pointing it out and all their bull****. What a double standard they have. Thats why im starting to dislike HBO more and more. When Pac won his "titles" at 140 147 and 154 they didnt mention it as much saying it was meaningless.

140 title was against Hatton for the IBO title. Which is as paper title as it gets. Who did hatton win it against anyways? Lazcano, Malignaggi, Castillo?
147 title was a catchweight fight at 145.
154 title was at 150 against a non ranked former 147 pounder.

Mother****ers those titles were as illegitimate as Morales title but you didnt seem to mention it every round.

 

Bull****. There was only one legitimate headbutt. The one that was very clear. Ortiz has a habit of putting his head in his opponents chest ala Ward to pressure. All of PBFs fan seem to be Ward fans and they say that is smart inside fighting. So its ok for Ward to do it but not Ortiz??

 

Exactly. They as PBFs biggest fans should be upset even more since they wont see him fight for about another year or 2. This fight was just starting to get good. Ortiz was pressuring harder and had just landed some good shots.

It was about to become a perfect night of boxing as 2 of the first 3 fights were awesome. The Canelo fight was the only stinker of the night and this fight looked like it was about to make up for it.
