Thoughts on Alexeevs Conqueror: Victor Ramirez

  1. How close does this one get in your opinion?

"I can only judge Alexeev, who is already an elite fighter, so based on his precise punches and superb power, I'm picking him to win by TKO."

A lot of guys fit that general description (once you take out the hyperbole). Which one of these was he most like?

    a) Antonio Margarito
    b) Librado Andrade
    c) Carlos Baldomir
    d) Giacobbe Fragomeni
    e) Samuel Peter

I expected to see a gassed fighter in rounds 7-8-9 but Alexeev still had plenty of bounce going into the 9th.He did not look like a gassed fighter leading up to the last minute and a half of the fight.

Look's like he buckled under pressure to me.

I think this fight was summed up pretty much to better chin of Ramirez. In boxing in order to win you need to be able to put up with the punches you take in fight. Ramirez could stand the punches he took, Alexeev couldn“t. I think both men took hard punches too easily.

he is one of the oldest looking 24year-olds i have ever seen...
besides that, he will get beaten by everyone who can jab and move.

Alexeev can jab and move as well as anyone at cruiser, other than maybe Cunningham, and he beat Alexeev....

Alexeev has absolutely zero infighting skills. His offense disappears completely. He doesn't even seem to know how to properly tie up an opponent.

His other problem is lack of head movement.

Those deficiencies allowed a less skilled, slower opponent to systematically take him apart.

Yep! You are right, axe! Too many easy ko victories, too many easy opponents.
As Alexeev stated in an interview after the fight he was way ahead on points after 9 rounds. He was totally out of puff after 6-7 rounds.
Well,he wasnt knocked out and learnt an important lesson in saturday's fight.
The potential is still there as well as the firepower.Nevertheless, his horrible lack of stamina in the later rounds made me think. He and his coach must keep their noses to the grindstone and try to improve Alexeev's weak spots.
I also think that he will be back.
On top of that all I would always bet my money on him against whomever they put in front of him at cruiser weight.......in a six round fight.:D
