I didn't find Dawson impressive yesterday, really boring and not using his tools at all. He shouldn't be showed on HBO, waste of money and time. He looked unmotivated and can't step on the pedal if his opponent isn't 40+ year old. He seems only content with doing the strict minimum. Hopkins would beat him and I am sure Pascal would beat him in a rematch too. Steward didn't seem to add much to him (even if it's early to judge) but it was a dumb move from Dawson to change his trainer I think. What Dawson needs is a soul, not a new trainer every year (or maybe Norman Stone). What do you think?

I agree, he needs a soul and a bit of killer instinct, he's a waste of talent and looks like he's in sparring sessions in there.
He is so skilled but will never be mainstream if he doesn't show heart and some desire to entertain fans.

First,Dawson beat Diaconu very soundly, who is in the top 10 lightheavyweights in the world, who only lost to Pascal.

Dawsons jab looked realy crisp and so did his right hook.

He needs to use the straight left alot more.

But still,he is way to nonchalant in there imo.Seem like when his opponent turns it on,Dawson gets even more relaxed causing more punches to get in that should have.

Its realy hard to say with Dawson. The man has tremendous boxing abilities but just seems he lacks the killer instinct.

I realy thought other than him throwing more punches,Dawson would of came into this fight like a beast.Even though beating Diaconu very soundly,Chad could have and should have done alot more with his opponent last night.

Dawson has been calling out Hopkins for 3 years, and Hopkins didn't want any part of him. Now they are obligated to fight by contract, Hopkins has no where to run.

And you have no idea what you are talking about, Diaconu is a puncher/counter-puncher, Dawson couldn't just simply bully him, he did what he needed to do to win. Dawson's fight was much more exciting than Hopkins bout against Pascal, which had very few punches landed and had a lot of holding.

And if boring fighters suck, than what does that say about Hopkins and Maywather who had plenty of boring fights.

I think Dawson would be too quick for Hopkins. Against Pascal it was clear Dawson wasn't 100% into it, because he had a lot of personal problems.

    Some people...!

Don't you think Diaconu's performance had something to do with Dawson's?

Dawson's pretty good. That's about it. Nothing special. Didn't really learn anything new about him that we didn't know already.

All I'll say is give that talent to someone who at least acts like he gives a crap!

Perhaps a tad harsh, but my genuine opinion is he has commitment issues.

He rarely sits down on his punches and gets his full weight into them. He has the physical and technical attributes, but mentally I feel he just does not enjoy the remote possibility of going into tough waters.

It's either that or he is tight at the weight, but he always looks in supreme condition to me.

Im a fan of Dawson no question .

But i wasnt impressed at all yesterday .

He needs to let his hands go more and learn to use his height to his advantage .
