Thoughts on Chris Byrd........

what about bruno would he of beat bryd

 

I honestly have no idea what he'd do against Tubbs, Tucker, Spoon, Thomas and Biggs, but I think he'd probably lose to some of them, I also think it could have been a mixed bag of results. Tyrell Biggs is not a fighter that I'd pick to beat Chris Byrd. Weather or not he lost to the other names mentioned, would depend greatly on how they showed up..

Watch Tyson-Bruno I, little Byrd wouldn't last long against that beast, not to discredit him, but Bruno could be deadly. I think he could out-box Byrd too, if he made use of his quality jab (observe his jabbing ability against Lewis).

 

You'd think differently if Tyson hadn't sadistically tortured him, ruining Tyrell physically & mentally.

 

byrd may well of had trouble with bruno's jab it was pretty good and frank could hit, if a twelve rounder though and byrd was still in it after the ninth bruno would fade terribly late on but would byrd have the power to take advantage.

i saw plenty of Tyrell Biggs both in his prime and after, and while he was a guy who showed POTENTIAL, that potential was never fulfilled. I could see Byrd outboxing him to a close, but comfortable decision.

 

Comfortable? No way. Byrd could fight super negatively & hope the judges like that sort of thing enough to give him an MD...

 

I think he'd take it though.. Neither man was terribly aggressive and neither could punch, but Byrd had slightly better skills and more speed. Biggs never impressed me much. He might have been a better fighter, had he set down on his shots more, wasn't so afraid to get hit, and listened to the Lou Duva when he had him in his corner.. But 10 years into his pro career, he was still making the same mistakes that he made in the amateurs.

 

Biggs was really tall and mobile with a good jab. Byrd would have had a real tough time beating him in my opinion.

 

Byrd was feather-firsted, Biggs had decent pop; he rocked the solid-chinned Bowe i seem to remember.

 

I agree, Byrd would struggle to out-box a man with similar speed, a quality jab, nice lateral movement, plus large height & reach advantages.

 

Biggs couldn't crack a lick, and even if he did briefly stun a durable opponent, one instance does not define a fighter's abilities. Byrd survived the power of Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko, David Tua and Andrew Golata.. Who did Biggs ever survive, David Bey?

 

biggs had reach and a good jab, but didn't utilize the ring as well as a man with his wingspan and fighting style should have.. His defense was also crap, and had no power to make Byrd respect him.. He was also too reliant on the left jab, whereas Byrd had more weopons in his aresenal..I think Chris edges him on the cards.

 

I wonder how long Byrd would last against the raging fury of a Peak Tyson unleashing nuclear-powered hatred upon him? :think

Not just blisteringly-fast bombs in bunches, but vicious elbows, lowblows, headbutts & kidney punches would be used on him...

 

He did very, very well considering he wasn't a natural HW, not even close, in fact. He has a brilliant resume and man, I cannot stress enough, the dude had balls the size of melons. He was one of the bravest and most courageous guys of this generation imo - he got in with Wlad Klitschko (twice), Vitali Klitschko, Holyfield, Tua, Ibeabuchi, McCline, Golota, Povetkin, and a whole host of other fights that are safe to call "good".

For an undersized guy with no power he did incredibly well to pick up a title and to notch wins over guys that should have flattened him. He could take a hell of a shot - Wlad detonated a picture perfect right hand (which many believe to have ATG power) and he got up from it! Ibeabuchi (who kept Tua at bay with his power shots) clocked him with a left shot that sounded like a rifle shooting a melon and, again, he got up. Crazy.

Good talent and skill, used to great effect. Absolute over-achiever imo.
