Gamboa is good but when he meets a technically sound fighter with speed and power he is done. That guy is Mikey Garcia. You can quote me on that. Also he is small so a taller guy with a good job would pose him problems. Right now definitely the best FW. Canelo is the goods. You guys have got to stop hating. I know he is a ginger but come on... He does not have extreme power or speed but those areas are very decent. He does not have a rock hard chin. He has composure and heart. He is very technical. I think the main thing of his that is underrated is his power. People forget 3 out of the last 4 fighters he has faced have just been ugly styles that have not wanted to engage. Hatton, Rhodes, Ndou. The only one that wanted to engage him was Baldomir and he was KTFO for the first time in his career. The other 3 he just outboxed and probably didnt even lose a round against. I think their going into a shell has to do with them feeling his power.
gamboa-my fav fighter right now. hope he tries not to lean to much on physical gifts. we don't need a roy jones #2 canelo-suspect chin, but still a good fighter. would love to see him againest a power puncher to sweeten things up (no pun intended)
Gamboa is the best fighter at 126, and with his speed, skills, and power I can see him dominating the 130 div as well. I'm still on the fence as far as his chin goes, but I'm more inclined to say that he's been dropped due to being off balance while trying to overcommit throwing seven punch combos than to having a glass chin. I doubt PDL will be able to catch Gamboa flush, but if he does and the Cuban stays up, then it's offical he's got a good chin. PDL has some very heavy hands. I think Canelo has talent, but is not deserving of that title nor is ready to be fighting the likes of Angulo. He is improving with every bout, and I expect nothing less than a TKO over Gomez.
Garcia will end it up face down if he ever meet Gamboa in his prime, no wonder Arum made Gamboa relinquish, in some way the IBF belt, a belt that Garcia was the mandatory, and his ppl say it best "WE ARE NOT READY FOR GAMBOA", what make you think that you know better than them? Arum doesn't want Garcia and Gamboa in the same zip code, and Gamboa is a better boxer than ppl give him credit for, after all coming from Cuba and being an Olympic Champion at 112 lbs, he needed to be a heck of a good boxer, so far he hasn't need to show what he have, that say a lot about his natural talents, he show a glimpse in his last fight against Solis and he will put it together if challenge it, but Mickey is not the guy, a least not now.
Gamboa A world class Featherweight , outstanding athlete , posesses Mayweather like natural ability , has genuine power , superb hand speed and timing , weak defense and chinny , rightfully ranked inside the top 3 FW's in the world although currently id have him #1 just ahead of John , would still like to see him fight Juanma , but there should be some real head line fights for Gamboa in the next 3 years , would like to see Gamboa Donaire in the next 18 months and it looks nailed on that he'll jump to SFW pretty soon Alvarez Very well schooled and superbly conditioned fighter , a tad over rated for me but still a very watchable fighter , genuine power in both hands , good solid combination puncher , has that typical Mexican grit which makes him a dangerous opponent , id have Alvarez somewhere in the top 8 JrMW's in the world but not sure he's top 3 , he can only get better so it should be interesting to see how he develops , there are many top fighters there right now for Canelo to fight so the next 12 months should tell us what his level is
I have to somewhat agree with this statement , i see Chris John for style based reasons actually giving Gamboa night mares , but it depends what John has left in the tank !!!
Gamboa is the truth. All he's missing is the opportunities - if Top Rank give him the big fights, the sky's the limit. Canelo is very well-rounded for his age. I don't think he's special or extraordinary in any one regard but he'll beat his share of decent fighters. Don't think he'll ever be in the discussion as one of the sports best.
Gamboa is a crazy talent, I love the way he moves and throws punches quick and somewhat unorthodox.... Can't wait to see him on saturday.. against a Mexi but I will be rooting for both. Canelo... Great talent at such a young age, IMO posseses the skills to become a future P4P great but needs more experience, I love the way he fights calm and patient dismantling and picks his shots. I think he is like an offensive counter puncher with great boxing and technical skills, with feints that are very advanced, I love it LOL, the defense is there and it's good... I don't pay attention to the hatton fight as he had no respect for the feather fisted hatton. .... hated the gift Belt because it invited haters, which he only had a few, now it's enormous ammount of hating because of his superstar persona and gifted belt but Golden Boy and WBC wanting to hype his fighter even more helped Canelo get it... Keep your eyes on this guy and stop the hating...
They said they arent ready?? Maybe a year ago but in his last fight he said they are ready for anyone and that includes Gamboa and Lopez. As far as Arum. Psshhh thats Arum he wants his fighters to have as many titles as possible you are not stupid so dont use those stupid arguments. Ha Garcia end up face down? MOre likely to be the other way around. Specially if Gamboa gets caught with his amateurish style being off balance. A guy like Garcia and John would actually give Gamboa alot of trouble. You can say all you want. Just like i can and i said quote me. Garcia will defeat Gamboa.
:deal I Love me some gamboa, great fighter... but Mikey Garcia posses the right skills to defeat Gamboa and if that fight were to ever happen, it would probably be Gamboas toughest fight and would be 50/50 for me... with Garcia having the edge with his timing, counter puncing ability and patience to time and counter gamboa all night... and on gamboa side the speed may just be to much... but if its not, it's gonna be a hard night for Gamboa.
Gamboa is one of the most gifted offensive fighters I've seen but his defensive fundamentals are **** and his Chin is shaky at best. Canelo is a solid fighter but he athletically he has nothing that wows me and his own defense and Chin are questionable.
