Thoughts on Garcia vs Judah outcome

I was shocked how Judah only threw his counter upper cut only a handful of times. The first time being very late in the fight. I guess Garcia made him uncomfortable with the idea of letting it go. Maybe cause Garcua seldom fully committed to his right hands. He threw them with conviction but didn't step into them. He also threw a variety of rights, which probably made Judah weary. I kept expecting that vicious upper cut.

 

He varied the right hand well as Paulie noted. For all his antics, Angel's a good trainer I think. He was right on his advice. When Garcia was pressing he looked great. He's naturally less effective on the back-foot, but still an adequate counter-puncher.

 

It was also funny how Garcia took a perfect left from Judah with no issues just before he scored one of his kds but starting from the 10th on, anytime Judah landed a semi decent shot, you could clearly tell Garcia was bothered by them. Boxing is so unpredictable.

 

Speaking of Paulie, i think he's a great color guy. He brings true insight. Like the variety of right hands being thrown. It's very subtle and most fans would've probably never picked that up unless if it was mentioned.

 

You're right about the counter uppercut. But in the early rounds it was too risk to go inside and try to land that uppercut. He was content to stay on the outside early, and when he started to get Danny goin, then he threw the left uppercut late.

 

I thought it was close and could go either way.

Judah looked real good and I think he's gonna be around until he loses to a fringe level guy.

 

Garcia is starting to impress me a little bit. He's a good fighter . He's not notably talented or special looking, but he's got an all around good skillset, and he thinks pretty well. Also got some real good punching power. The only flaws I see is that he drops his hands a lot, and he throws real winging / looping shots. Someone with a tight defense and sharp punching can take advantage of that.


Judah looked a little better then usual, but all the same problems are there - or problem i should say , which is his mental focus. He just doesnt have it in him to throw enough punches, and as soon as he starts getting touched, he backs off / shuts down. Judah's never been able to overcome this problem.

 

To be honest I don't really rate Garcia that highly. Maybe like an Arthur Abraham Light Welter Weight!

 

Was Arthur Abraham ever a unified and lineal champion?

 

No but Abraham was never in a division where he was promoted by a promoter who had all the belts. Garcia was handed two winnable fights against Morales and Khan to become 'unified' and 'lineal' champion.

Anyone knows that belts mean less now but as far as Garcia is concerned I don't think he's the top guy at the division, I couldn't see him having any more success than Abraham did if he moves up a weight. He's just really tough with KO power and limited speed and skills, just like Abraham.

 

What the **** are you talking about, who's better than him at Junior Welterweight? He was fed to Khan, not the other way around. Khan was the number 1 in the division after a controversial lost to Peterson who I felt he won. Then he had a mandatory rematch with Morales, then beat Judah 9 rounds to 3. This the same Judah that beat Matt. So if you rank either Matt or Pederson above Garcia, it doesn't really make sense since Garcia beat the guys who beat them. Like honestly I don't see the comparison at all, a better comparison would be to compare him to Pavlik and Matt to Abraham. Pavlik knocked out and beat the lineal and unified Middleweight champion and had a couple of defenses while making great money.

 

I really enjoy listening to Paulie as well, was impressed with how he can praise other fighters and never lets his own ego get in the way.

 

Garcia is always ready to unload with both hands after an exchange and is never rearly off balacnce which is what make him so dangerous and exciting.

I had Garcia winning but Judah fought well and i to noticed the lack of his uppercut. but that was part of his stratagey no doubt an adjustment for defensive reasons . For me broner Garcia would be good to see
