I liked Arroyo he could punch and reminded me alittle of a poormans Arguello. His knockouts over Terrance Ali and Charlie "white lightning"Brown were awesome displays of the power he had. Then Paul pretty much dominated him and he was never the same after that. I remember a prime Sammy Fuentes beating him bad, same with Paz,but he was never the same again after Jimmy Paul. Another Youngstown,Oh guy that came right after Mancini. They have sure had a lot of champs for not being a big city. Mancini,Arroyo,Richardson,Lampkin,Pavlik.
Too bad he and Mancini never fought. Ray was on the downside by the time Arroyo was champ. Maybe Harry coulda pulled the upset. And yeah Harry could punch. He had a big right hand, it damn near decapitated Terrance Ali. However his chin wasnt the best.
The Arroyo that beat Blake,Brown,ALi would have stopped the fading Mancini. His chin didnt seen to be that bad when Fuentas(was teeing off oh him) and Fuentes was a big puncher. He also took Paz best shots and i think went the distance. Although Paul dropped him a few times.
His chin wasnt glass, but it wasnt great either. Ali hurt him, and Ali wasnt a puncher. Too be fair to Harry though, Jimmy Paul had a helluva right hand, and was a very good technician. I'm not positive Arroyo beats the faded Mancini. Harry didnt have the chin, and skill that Bramble had. But Harry was a bigger puncher than Bramble, so who knows. Prime Mancini would stop Arroyo w/o a doubt. How bout Arroyo vs Rosario in the mid 80's?
I guess you have a good point on the Mancini/Arroyo outcome Mancini although on the slide was still pretty good against Bramble although he couldnt afford to get caught by Arroyo either. I have no doubt whatsoever that Rosario would have knocked out Arroyo in the mid rounds ko 8 Rosario.
