Thoughts on Haymon's NBC broner-molina & thurman-guerrero premier boxing champs

Overall, i thought it was a good production...however, i had some issues with a few things....

- the introduction of the fighters was overly theatrical...i like to watch the ring entrances with the boxer and his entourage to music chosen by the fighter's team...the way it was done with the boxer being introduced under the spotlight on that stage was a little unnerving. it's gonna take some getting used to, even for the fighters themselves.

- the use of football and basketball anchors and commentators lacked something of the urgency and excitement we're used to seeing with hbo and showtime...haymon needs to hire far more dynamic personalities for the intro portion of the show.

- laila ali is truly, incredibly beatiful. far more than any of the current hollywood stars....the kind of beauty that is kinda distracting. still, i felt she shoulda had more screen time...let her be on the commentary team instead of providing cheesy updates from the corners.

- congrats to broner and thurman....both were very impressive. broner beat the godforsaken schit outta the ungracious loser molina...broner is 25 and the best at 140....certainly a prime candidate for 140 lb supremacy. thurman actually did a lot better than i expected against a very experienced and wily veteran in guerrero...speaking of guerrero, i fully expected his head to explode from the force of those blows thurman landed on him. kudos to him for surviving to the final bell.

- great show overall. very entertaining fights and quality production... look forward to the next one in april.

btw, the real money is in the advertising dolllars which has already been paid.

 

one thing about thurman was that i never thought he was ready for fmj...and after this fight, it only confirms he's not in floyd's league yet. i wanted him to KO guerrero, looked like he was on his way to getting there before guerrero decided he had to smother thurman's power buy mauling him against the ropes.

 

funny to see people who consider themselves boxing fans rooting for a boxing venture to fail...do they realize that they would also lose out as a result? maybe it's just more important that haymon fail than that boxing succeeds...then again, the reasons for that mentality are pretty obvious.

both were great fights....exciting and entertaining. thurman-guerrero especially. broner-molina, for broner's technical virtuosity.

 

you know nothing about the business of boxing then...

i would advise you to look up rush limbaugh...surprised you never heard of him since he's a pretty high-profile radio personality. but then again, maybe i shouldn't be surprised....
