it was better than 90% of hbo and showtime or ppy shows over the past 5 years.

4 big name stars in their prime facing off.

if it was a gbp, it woulda been ONE of those fights and a schitty no-name mexican vs no-name mexican or ****py thai fighter in the undercard. Thank GOD for haymon.

    1) I agree with TS the production was very good. Overall it was the level of production that definitely lived up to its place as a primetime saturday night network TV sports production. I liked the music and the matching suites and all that stuff. It looked sharp. The entrances will need some getting used to. But I'll get over it.

The commentators we good but not great but for their first show I didn't expect them to be 100% on point. I didn't mind that they weren't as vocal as on Showtime of HBO, sometimes that just gets on my nerves. And really these weren't even title fights and there was a med level of drama. Save the craziness for the really hardcore drama. Overall I'd say they weren't bad and will get better.

    2) On the money side of things. For those of you who follow Premier league soccer you'll know that a couple of years back a really rich Gulf state oil Billionaire bought Mancheter City for about a hundred million pounds. Then he started spending ridiculous amounts of money...just blowing hundreds of millions of pounds in the transfer market. And people were like "WTF is he doing? ****ing away all his money on football???". And basically everyone thought he was a dumbass. But really he was just a smart business man. It costs about a billion dollars to buy a Manchester United. So instead of spending a billion on a team like MUTD he went next door, bought a team for pennies on the dollar and then invested a ton of money into that team. Now he has a franchise that is worth as much or more then the money he put into it. It wins majour titles and he didn't have to spend a billion dollars to get it.....Anyways the point of all that is that Al Hayeman and his financial backers see that the UFC is a billion dollar company. They don't feel like buying the UFC. So instead they are prepared to lose a lot of money creating a combat sports brand that will rival it. The idea is that they build-up a fan base and a pool of fighters that is the best in the world. They'll lose a bunch of money putting on shows at first but if they can build enough of a following that they can put on 6 or 7 PPVs a year and have good advertising revenues from their primetime shows then they'll have a billion dollar company (just like the UFC) but without having to pay a billion dollars for it....smart business. I hope it works out.

p.s. if you wonder why boxing is doomed just look at the stupidity of the mouth breathers on this thread. Al Hayemen brings boxing back to network TV but he's an **** whole cause Broner-Molina and Thurman-Guerrero are **** fights....ya okay whatever their boyz. If boxing fans weren't mostly relegated to the kiddy pool for their own safety the sport would be much better off.

Overall, I thought the show was great, even managed to catch Reyes-Mares on nbcsports afterwards. The only thing disappointing about the whole night was, I expected a little more from Molina, I had Broner, but I wish Molina would have at least pushed Broner a little harder.

Broner fight was a **** poor boring joke and a boxer is not in his prime when he loses 5 of his last 8 fights get Haymons nuts out of your mouth.

Molina didn't come to fight because he felt Broner's power early, and after May 2nd, we won't have to worry about Pacs fans anymore. These types of responses will just get deleted because you won't be able to dik ride and post with Pac overtones anymore lol...

I thought the show was good overall. There were obvious highs and lows but a good show altogether.

The Broner fight was poor, maybe not as bad as some made it out, but still a bad fight. Would have been nice if it was only 10 rounds instead of 12.

Thurman-Guerrero was a very good fight. Not a fight of the year type but very good. A ko would have made it better but still a good fight.

The announcing crew was pretty ho-hum. It felt like there was no excitement and a lack of interest from the team. Maybe they get better each time out, not sure though.

Laila Ali felt pointless out there. I get she has that name and a female on the team could help drive interest but she was boring and seemed completely wasted.

Flores and Smoger were good and Al Michaels was a nice touch as was the nod to past greats.

The entrances were definitely different. I like the traditional ring walks and if this is how PBC continues it will take some getting use to. Last night I'd call it a bad thing but after seeing it a few times it could be fine, have to see.

I liked the overall look of the fight. Different than HBO and Showtime but still good.

Good show, good price, and the Thurman-Guerrero fight definitely saved the show overall. I'm looking forward to the next and maybe they'll fix a few of their misfires.

I can see how some people might have been disappointed in the outcome of the broner fight...not me. I found it entertaining. I thought it was a great, dominant performance by broner. it demonstrates why broner is quite probably the top guy at 140. don't blame broner because molina can't hang...molina was supposed to do his thing. molina did the best he could, got tore up and that's all there is to it.

regardless of the outcome, the matchups were great...marquee fighters going at it. we were lucky to get two big fights of that caliber on one card...when's the last time hbo or showtime had two fights of that caliber on one card?....not within the past 10 years, i bet.

not a big fan of al michaels. he put a damper on the show from the beginning. no electricity. we boxing fans like a little bombast. he's too restrained...i think laila should have more camera time. i was excited to see what she would do on the show. her over-the-top, exquisite beauty was just wasted.

agree that the commentary lacked some spice...maybe bring in an actual boxing commentator next time...even the colonel bob sheridan would have been better...

Blizzy, mooks will be mooks .

The way i look at it, fools always complain about the lack of good match-ups and how the top guys are avoiding each other....so, they got to see broner and molina, two big, marquee names at 140 go against each other....then they got to see thurman - guerrero, arguably the two best ww's in the world outside of fmj ...and both fiights ON THE SAME CARD!...FOR FREE! ....and mfkers are STILL complaining. like wtf?

but we know what the "criticism" is really all about. it could be the greatest card of all time and they would still talk schit because look who the promoter is.
