Both Jr and Lee could be better, but when either doesn't use the jab they limit themselves. Just because Jr is a brawler doesnt mean he can't use it now and then and Lee should of listened to Steward about boxing in the center. Lee got overconfident thinking his power was superior, but Jr had surprisingly the same if not more, but it took longer to get there. I give props to both. Neither fighter is a bum. Neither no Maravilla tho, but neither is a bum. Jr would give Maravilla and GGG hell before getting beat tho. Jr cant be underestimated he is like a freight train keeps on coming. He's inconsistent tho he needs to come in this shapr everytime he comes to fight. Looked very focused.
I just find it too odd that for the 2nd time in a row the Texas commission drops the ball when it comes to the drug test. If I was in the parole office and I couldn't **** in the cup, they would have me wait there until I had to go. They wouldn't wait for me to go somewhere and come back and take the test. Other than that, I'd have to begin to take Chavez seriously as a fighter. Put that kid in that VADA program and then I can be confident in his cleanliness. Until then, I have my doubts about Chavez. He did test positive for banned substances in the past so he's not the most stand up guy in that respect. It was a big win for him last night but I'm not fully confident that he did it all on the up and up. There's some suspect things about Chavez and the state of Texas is protecting him. So is the WBC. I want him to take the test so I can get behind him without feeling like I'm rooting for a cheater. He impressed me but I have my doubts.
I got the sense that something is fishy with this kid. he looked good, too good. this is the same kid who had trouble with matt vanda not too long ago, and now he is a world beater....? now throw in the phantom drug tests, weighted gloves....hmm
Still has not beat a top 5 fighter in any weight. Sr at least had Castillo by his 42 fight or so. Chavez needs to stop beating cans before he can be considered world class.
Best MW in the world, someone is going to have to crack that chin to make me believe different. He's too tough, too strong, too big...he will lose rounds, but at the end of the day he's just too strong. He ate everything Andy Lee dished out, kept coming, and ****ed him up. I'm telling you, JCC Jr is a ****ing monster at 160 and isn't getting beat by any of the cats around right now.
jr is a beast at mw. he gets hit, takes it and then hits you back harder than you hit him. excellent body work. i don't see anyone at mw that is strong enough to keep him honest. doesnt mean he'll beat martinez but martinez isnt getting any younger and starts off very slow. i think the fight will be much more competitive than a lot of people think.
It was very enjoyable watching this kid work last night. He's for real in my book. He is much more mentally tough than I had originally thought. I'd say he's one of the best body punchers around right now and that is what really took it out of Lee. Not to mention his chin is very good, Lee is a classic boxer who is tall and lean and gets good leverage on his punches, they didn't phase Chavez at all. The guy is not going to be easy for anybody at 160 and I think he can beat anybody there, including Martinez. Also I don't see how anybody can think that wasn't a good stoppage, Lee was gassed and out on his feet. Did you see how busted up he was? And that's just what we could see, I wouldn't be surprised if he had some rib fractures from those murderous body shots he was taking, I felt those through the tv. Chavez is an exciting fighter to watch, and I will be watching. I don't give a **** about all this "he's been babied along" talk or whatever, he proved to me last night he belongs among the best in the sport, he earned that, and he's one of the most exciting fighters to watch right now, in my opinion.
I wouldn't classify Zbik, Rubio or Lee as cans, would you? I have to say I am increasingky more impressed with Jr each time out. His style is exciting, seek and destroy, and he is finally fightimg world class fighters. He hasn't fought anyone who can hurt him yet. Hopefully the fight with Martinez will happen. However, there is a nugget of concern when it comes to the **** tests.
Plainly put. I think your opinion is illogical. Rubio and Manfredo are big middleweights. Jr. is a lot tougher than he gets credit for. When was the last time Martinez was in with a puncher like Jr? One that was sober anyway. I know you'll probably say when was the last time Jr. was in with someone that can box like Sergio? Probably never, but he walks through anything his opponents throw at him. I don't know if Martinez beats Chavez Jr. at this point in their careers.
