i remember after one round they went to Ibragimoves corner and jeff was just looking at sultan without saying anything. I dont think he's a world class trainer like his brothers(yes roger is a world class trainer)
I have to agree with that. His man was in there losing his Title and did not seem to offer any advice or try to atleast light some fire under his ass.
Big Floyd is definately the best out of them. Roger gives Lil Floyd some good instructions. However, he's mostly benefitting off of his brother's hard work.
What could Jeff say? Sultan looked like he gave up after round 3, and with the way Klitschko was fighting I just don't think he even knew what to tell Sultan. He told him he needed to keep those hands up and go after Wlad, he just couldn't.
I agree I think floyd sr is really the only legit trainer of the brothers. I have to see roger's work with other fighters lets see how he do with ishe smith.
I would say that he conducts himself better in the public eye but he isn't as good a trainer as floyd.
Sultan gave up hope very early in that fight , and obviously did'nt have a plan B or C. Jeff Mayweather was no inspiration to Sultan , thats for sure.
I think you guys are being too hard on Jeff. I actually appreciate a calm corner, and what was he supposed to tell Sultan? What options did he have? That fight amounted to Ibragimov trying to survive, and no trainer in the world can help a guy in the ring with that mindset. I'd like to see what Jeff can do with a guy in an evenly matched fight.
I think the gameplan midway through the fight was for everyone to not say anything until someone had a good idea. In all honesty, there wasn't much to be done...Klitschko wasn't giving many opportunities for Sultan to benefit on.
A calm corner is a good thing yes , but surley its a trainers job to come up with an alternate strategy or at least motivate him when its clear his boxer is about to lose everything. It appeared that Jeff had given up on his man.
