Nah, I think his performances show he had ATG skills, its his accomplishments that bring him down.

 

A hell of a lot, because he would have beaten both Hopkins and DM, and anyone else he fought, IMO.

I've said before that I think the terms should be used more selectively. I'm not happy calling the likes of Mosley or DLH "ATGs" - I'm not even sure I'd call them "Greats". I think the ATGs are probably the top 50 or 60 of all time, the Greats the top 80-90 or so.

I think it's pretty useless to put any set number on this kind of thing, which is why I don't usually flirt with lists unless I'm simply doing it for fun. There were so many great fighters throughout history, with so many different circumstances surrounding the unfoldings of their careers, that I think it's a pretty futile effort when looking to rank them. I just appreciate the fighters and the history.

 

I thought I was the only way that thought this way. Historical lists are pretty popular around here, but useless, because noone could have all the information that you listed above. You almost have to live it to know it. I agree with your post 100% and why I hate lists.
