Rumour that there could be something big in store for Kid Chocolate come the new year.

    Here's his last fight.

Thanks Slip, missed that fight(I think Bute-Johnson ran simultaneously to it?), will watch it later. How'd he look? I remember talking Quillin up about a year ago but plenty of Americans didn't seem to be feeling it. McEwan was his best opponent to date, even if he was undersized, hopefully he looked good in the process.

Yeah, he looked pretty good, J. Probabily his best performance considering the opposition.

Although he did look a little cumbersome at times and he was getting hit with the left hand down the pipe too frequently. I'd prefer to see him at 168, but super middleweight is waters infested with serious killer sharks right now. So maybe stay put and become a squatter in an empty home. Although he's not as physically imposing at 160.

He was very combat effective in that fight, set up his punches well and he was taking a few more risks with his right hand, which he normally doesn't do early on. (Much of that probably had to do with the fact that he knew McEwan pretty well, as they'd sparred together so he felt more confident in crossing that danzer zone as he knew the risk).

In about the third round i saw something i really liked. After the first couple of rounds, where he was using his jab effectively, Craig was kind of figuring him out and trying to catch him over the jab with a right hook.

Quillin did something very smart, he would feint with the jab and draw McEwans lead. After this, Craig had to press the fight a little more and that meant he would walk into punches and present Quillin with more counter punching opportunities. I really liked that adjustment he made.

He finished the show when he walked Craig into a beautiful checking left hook, followed by two big right hands with McEwan facing the turnbuckle.

The ref was a little premature in stopping it, imho. Too quick with the trigger, which took a little shine away from his performance, unfortunately. But it was a good nights work against a legit opponent. What we might call a coming party on the three letter network.

I'd like to see Kid Chocolate in with someone like Lee, Geale or Rubio next. Since Martinez is only interested in calling out welterweights, i don't see that fight happening. Maybe good for Quillin because i think that would be a tough fight for him, anyway.

Peter Quillin vs. Andy Lee trying to be made apparently. Good fight.

He's got some good things going for him, but he's strangely unambitious between the ropes. Very tentative when he should really be more assertive. I like him and think he'll develop well with Roach.

Not THAT impressed, but he's not bad. He didn't look super impressive in the McEwan fight. I was listening to a radio show a while back where the hosts mentioned Ishe Smith and it seemed like he didn't want it and was making all sorts of excuses that it's not worth it etc etc.

It's defo worth a listen. The hosts got both of them on at the same time and Ishe and him were going at it.

I don't know what y'all get up to in the general and i gather it's easier to get away with it in the GF. But there are rules in this building, young grasshopper. Rule #1 of the Brit forum: PUT SOME CLOTHES ON YOUR ARGUEMENT!. A simple "not necessarily" won't cut it here, my mahn. I know you're an enlightened cat, so why don't you spit some of that knowledge and give us some X's and O's.

    Shoot! :good

I've always advocated that if Lee performed to the best of his ability he would prove a lot of doubters wrong. I also believe that Kid Chocolate is a talent. Quillin seems quite skillful to me. Being Irish I can't spout out the winner of Lee V Quillin without accused of being biased but I don't care. I see this as a 50/50 and I wouldn't like to bet on it put it that way. I think either could take out Sturm at this point and they also may be vulnerable in their own way (Quillins chin has not been tested and Lee has not shown consistency yet). They both beat McEwan who is a decent fighter and although Lee was beaten by Vera 4 years ago I think he put on a good display in the rematch and conquered his demons. I think Kid cholcoate has the edge offensively on skill, I suspect Lee has the edge on power. For chin I don't know how to compare them and heart either. Lee has heart and chin though so if Kid Chocolate wins this then fair play to him and I think he should get a shot. At least they both seem willing to fight each other and it just down to the money it looks at this stage!
They both did very well in their last fights so I expect this to be a real cracking fight.

Looks like he's down to fight Winky soon, Slip. He'll have WAY more hassle thanP-Dub did, even with this inactive version of Winky, the jab will be there for Wright for sure.

Interesting fight for sure, let's hope Ron turns up.
