I've always found him very entertaining to watch, what does everyone else think of him?

His historic coin increases in value with every fight that Wlad wins.

I think that at his best, he was a bit of a dreadnought for anybody to deal with. Not great, but having some of the atributes.

i agree with this. His fights with Lyakhovich and Brewster were one of the best HW fights in the last decade.

He had a decent WBO title run. Should ve never had lost to Lyakhovich imo. That was devestating for his career. He was pretty highly regarded at that point. And could ve made serious money in the Wlad rematch if he defeated Lyakhovich and Briggs after that. Would ve been the biggest heavyweight fight in years.

    Extremely underrated .
See d respect Ingemar Johanson , Max Baer and Max Schmelling get and see y . 1 has 2 get brutally stopped 2 get respect , and d more d better .
Top 20 HW in my list .
In his defense it must b remembered and mentioned that d rematch with Wladimir happened only after he returned from a surgery due 2 his detached retina and did not receive d time 2 fully heal from it and prepare 4d fight , another brilliant managerial / promotional pick from Wladimir's team . D rematch doesn't count 2 me , just like McCall vs Lewis #2 and Harding vs Tarver #2 doesn't .

Tough guy, exciting, not very good. Shows how far a punch and an ability to take a punch can get you in the heavyweight division.

I met Lamon Brewster at LA Boxing, and talked to him.
He was with his then trainer-Jesse Reid.

He's a smart fighter and knows ring strategies well.

    Punched harder than Mercer.

I was going to write "a chin and a punch go far in this division" but someone already did.

Overacheiver. I feel like he accomplished more than a lot of guys from the last 15 years who were better fighters than he was.

Seems like a great guy and was in the best heavyweight fight of the last decade against Liakhovich!

Basically, combined intangibles and a big left hook and made a mediocre title run.

His class, however, was shown in most of his big fights. His big wins, he usually had to come from behind, and in his big losses, he was utterly whitewashed. Wlad saw him off like a sparring partner, Liakhovitch before that dominated him and completely shut his game down. Kali Meehan took him to school and got absolutely jobbed in a decision.

A great man with a grenade to bail him out of trouble, but no further than a contender or gatekeeper in terms of true skill.
