I think you're slightly innaccurate in your assessment of Cotto and his achievements so far. Very few people will deny he's an elite welterweight (you appear to be one of them).

Cotto looked great prior to the first knockdown, and was working his jab brilliantly to off set Manny's speed and balance. Even after he was dropped, he recuperated well, and seemed to pick up where he left off. But then of course he took that strong left which seriously hurt him, and by then Manny was on a momentum.

He needs to re-assess his team, and bring in a serious head trainer.

Cotto wasnt a 1 dimensional fighter. He had a great gameplan to start the fight with. It went to **** though because of Pacman's speed and power.

people who take the time to create a thread in order to bash a proven fighter obviously are not concerned with the actual art of boxing but just interested in the "names" and stardom that goes along with it. F off. Cotto got his ass beat and hes still a damn good fighter.

Pacman won this fight fair and ****in square. Thats the long and short of it. The better man won. And I also shall say a big **** you to all the people giving Cotto **** here, the man is a great fighter, he fought the best in his division and so what if he came up short last night thats what happens when you fight the best consistenly, you lose sometimes. Great fight last night. Respect to both fighters.

Cotto is as good as he's ever been, which is to say, not as good as pacquiao but better than pretty much everyone else.

Cotto is elite for this time. Pac man is just that much better. Cotto came out disciplined and followed his game plan. As soon as he came off that, he got caught. You can't get into those wild exchanges with Pacman, he always gets the better of them. Cotto had to stay disciplined, keep up the jab, bang the bod and not get drawn into Manny's fight. But he didn't. The 1st knockdown was no big deal, but the 2nd one changed the whole fight. Cotto still had a good chance up until that point, but none after. There is no shame in losing to an ATG at the top of his game.

Janeschicken, is a punk ass homo. Not everyone is a ***** who likes to sugar coat things and are afraid to tell the truth. Cotto made millions last night. There's no need to feel sorry for him. Cotto needs to go back to the drawing board. He can come back, but not unless he makes a lot of changes.

I wouldnt make to much of his victory over Shane as that was quite shallow and he was very fortunate to walk away with the UD.

Cotto is a great fighter period. He has his flaws in that he's very methodical, cant fight going backwards, finds it difficult to impose his will on a fight, is quite fragile as was evident in his early fights with N'dou and Corley, has a lot of mileage, got a raw deal vs Margo who cheated etc etc. Id like him to take a well earned rest as he's had some very gruelling fights. And then get in the ring with someone like Hatton or at least a gimme at 147 to get his confidence back up assuming he wants to continue to fight.

Cotto needs a more experienced trainer, but I don't think he can be remolded at this stage in his career. E.g. he should have pulled him from the fight earlier.
