Thoughts on Leo Santa Cruz's fight?

Because when Santa Cruz is at his best he puts his punches together excellently, last night he really struggled to get into a rhythm and looked sluggish.

I think Leo was at about 75% last night, fully rested he'd have ben even more convincing then he was.

To call Guevara a phenomenal talent is a bit over the top IMO, he's clearly a good fighter though.

If we had a kid who could fight like Guevara at 20 he would have an MBE!
The lad is going places, and they will fight again down the line guaranteed. He's a prospect worth noting.

LSC was in a fight because Guevara is excellent nothing more to say.

 

He's 22, not that it really matters, I agree that he's going places, hopefully he can get a crack at one of the other title holders at 118.

So you don't think Santa Cruz was over trained and his recent activity hindered his performance last night? I do.

When you come from the school Santa Cruz does, and incidentally Guevara does, it doesn't matter, these guys can box at world level 12 times a year comfortably!

Yes I happen to agree that it may of hindered him a tad but not that much tbh, Guevara is not a guy anyone at the top level will walk in and stop! not by half, in-fact after last night i suspect he'll be highly avoided

He's fighting guys with losing records (Yafai), Guevara went to war with one of the worlds brightest young world champions!

 

I still think Santa Cruz could stop him fully rested, I'm not saying he'd butcher the lad, Guevara can clearly handle himself against world level guys, Leo got to him a few times last night but he didn't look sharp enough to follow it up and put him away.

It would of taken a monumental effort from Santa Cruz to put Guevara away from what I seen last night, lets not get away from the fact Santa Cruz is not a boxing sensation like a Donaire, he's a walk in break you down fighter with technical skills, not the other way round, Im with you that Santa Cruz looked a tad warn, Ill hand you that, but Guevara showed durability and ability, and he's a young lad, he could of easily folded (Valero DeMarco) but he never, he hung in there and gave Santa Cruz a hell of a lot to think about!

He's a fantastic combination puncher

The pin point solid jab after most combo's that finish on a left hand is so eye catching, then from that jab he goes straight to a left uppercut, the lads a talent :deal

 

Yeah, many love to jump on our prospects early and talk about them being world champs without even being remotely tested.

Yafai looks very good, I like the look of him (no homo) but I'm keeping my mouth shut on how far he will go until he's been tested a few times.

 

This, he really is beautiful to watch when in full flow.

It's encouraging how technically proficient he is considering he's trained by his father, he's been schooled well and his dad must be a decent trainer, unlike Vince Cleverly.
