I'm an American but I really like Macklin. He impressed me again tonight and he showed he's a top 5 middleweight assuming Chavez moves up as he promised. Any thoughts about who Macklin should fight next? Sturm might consider a rematch now that he's beltless. How do Macklin do against Pirog or Barker? I'd like to see either of those fights or even a challenge against Geale if Geale doesn't get a fight with Martinez. Even a Sam Soliman or an Andy Lee would make for a compelling fight imo. And HBO clearly likes the guy. I think there are a lot of options for him out there and even though there are guys out there I'd favor over him I could very easily see Macklin beating anyone in the division, except Martinez or Golovkin.
Difficult to go over the top after a one round decisive stoppage, but Macklin is what we all know he is, a tough MW who is operating at World level and will give anyone a test Martinez got a lot of stick for fighting Barker and Macklin and he stopped both, so one thinks he wont fight him again, even though Macklin has stated publicly thats the fight he wants !! it depends who steps up to the plate for Martinez, Chavez again ?, or Mayweather ?, my feeling is Floyd wont fight him, so Martinez once again will be scratching around for that big fight Which isnt a bad thing for Macklin because he's there, he's available and there in the same stable Martinez aside Sturm makes sense, Barker is a headliner in the UK, as is Murray, even Billy Jo, then there is Golovkin and Pirog, its clear HBO like Macklin, and he wants to fight the best I say look for Golovkin, **** it !!!!
Would like to see him with Barker.Make this a 50 50,slight favour for Darren to outbox him if fit and active.Reckon Murray too powerful at moment. If he could get Sturm to the US hed have a chance.Think Geale outpoints him,and dont think hed thrash Saunders if they fought this year, never mind later on,as the lad might beat all the aforementioned if friday was anything to go by.Later on,obviously.
Just seen previous post.I think theyll steer well clear of Golovkin, reckon they all will, unless its for a lot of money.
Murray's too powerful ?, whos he been knocking out then ?, Macklin is as seasoned as them all, and he is very very tough The beauty of these 3 (Murray, Barker & Macklin) or 4 depending if Billy Jo wants to get his head in, is that there's literally nothing between them all (Billy Jo is TBC obviously), there all tough solid MW's who can fight at world level and do well Macklin has fought Sergio Martinez, he will not avoid Golovkin, nor will Murray and if Barker had been more active he'd take a fight with Golovkin too Now that Golovkin is a HBO fighter, he's bringing a decent purse with him these days, so its risk and reward
