Manny got fights with guys like Margarito at 154 at a catch weight of 152 for a vacant world title. The threat was enormous for Manny because of the size, weight and overall physical disadvantages he faced, but it was for a championship having never fought at JR welterweight before or after winning the title. He received these opportunities because he was promoted well and due to how he was able to perform agaisnt the best.
He received this opportunity because of his work in the ring. Let's look at the CV of Pacquiao before the Margarito fight. -KO Sasakul -KO Ledwaba -KO Barrera -KO Morales (past prime though) -SD Marquez -KO Diaz -KO DLH (past prime though) -KO Hatton -KO Cotto That resume dumps on every fighter since the 80's. He didn't get the Margarito fight because he was promoted well. He was afforded the opportunity because he was knocking out HOF'ers. The man was demolishing, annihilating and embarrassing, legitimate ATG's.
To be fair, I've never considered Manny to be a Junior Middleweight champion (whoa, that just sounded weird as hell). And Manny got out of that weight division and said 150 is the highest he will ever go again.
Relax....I said he got the opportunity because of how he was able to perform against the best....but there’s no denying he had a great promoter backing him and setting him up for those kinds of opportunities. If not for the strategic mind and connections Arum had, Manny might not have gotten those key fights that made historical feats. If you saw my other post I highlighted just how noteworthy his overall body of work is. It’s in this thread and covers all the notable win against world champions
I agree. He’s not even a real welterweight in my honest opinion....but he’s such a phenomenal talent he’s able to transcend weight classes
Marquez tarnished that yo! Manny was a the man to capture the world. He was the IT man he had the X factor.A legitimate mega star. He sold out PPV and stopped the nation. Philippines wants a new Pacquiao. I don't like this line of thought. Why not have a Filipino Marquez the man that beat the man emphatically an elite Boxer/Puncher.
How would he fare against non weight drained tailor made great name Southpaws against the sort of scrutiny on drug testing Floyd made the little rat come in under?
The audacity of some Juanita talking about drugs as the man in his avatar is one of the biggest drug cheats in sports history.
No proof of Memo giving JMM anything illegal. Pure speculation. But Floyd absolutely received a highly suspicious IV drip that was illegal by all accounts. The way the 750mLs of fluid were delivered, the timing, the amount, how quickly that amount was infused and even the rationale behind why they wanted the IV drip was all very suspect (severe dehydration)? What was worse was the complicity between USADA and the NSAC to cover their reputation by subsequently issuing a retroactive TUE, that came 18 days after the fight. Which in itself was handled by the contracted party hired by Mayweather in USADA and not the NSAC. Firstly, the amount infused was over 10 times the legal amount. Also, the only way any IV drip is allowed is by an proactive TUE that has to be approved by NSAC before the fight. Should the IV drip be approved it has to take place by a licensed physician at a medical facility and not in the home of the athlete. Lastly, the IV drip has be be delivered over the course of 5 or 6 hours. The way Floyd had been administered his 750mLs created a lot of questions simply because everything was underhanded and only came to surface almost 3 weeks after the fight concluded. Athletes who have done this in the past in the Olympics were banned or subjected to alternative and more extensive testing because IV drips delivered in that way, with that excessive amount in such a small window of time is indicative of attempting to mask or dilute illegal agents in the system
You and anyone else who can put his fandom aside knows that Pac was MOST LIKELY at some point in his career just as juiced up as the other 2!
